Father takes daughter to Lanzarote for a CHEAPER day out than shopping in London

When Wiktoria, 19, asked her father, Aleksander Sikora, 41, for a day out shopping in London, the plans unexpectedly changed.

Budget traveller Aleksander instead managed to fly them both out to Lanzarote.

The father-and-daughter pair, from Surrey, enjoyed a day on the beach and the retail employee trainer claims it was cheaper than a day in the capital.

Aleksander booked return flights with easyJet from London Gatwick to Lanzarote Airport just three days before the trip and paid £60.

The duo flew out on November 11 and had six hours to enjoy the coast and Wiktoria was able to explore the local fashion shops and markets.

At under £100 per person, it proved to be a bargain day out compared to what Aleksander might have spent in London.

He accounted for petrol to the airport which was £10 and parking at the hub for £15.

It also cost around £3 in total for them both to ride the bus from Lanzarote Airport to the centre.

While they were there, Aleksander tucked into a chow mien from a Chinese takeaway for £10.

The pair were home by midnight – and Aleksander said Wiktoria enjoyed it so much that she’s keen to try another ‘extreme day trip’ in the future.

Aleksander said: ‘My daughter said she wanted to go shopping – I said ‘give me a day and let me check something on the internet’.

‘I came back and offered her a day trip to Lanzarote to do her shopping at the markets instead – and she said ‘why not?’.

‘While she went off shopping, I listened to music and flew my drone on the beach – I enjoyed some peace and quiet time in the sun.

‘It’s not for everyone and people will say I’m crazy for the trip – but it was what I needed to calm my mind.’

Aleksander claimed a trip to London would be more expensive than a day in the sunshine abroad.

He said: ‘If you spent a day in London it would cost more than I spent. In the present time, a lot is going on, the price of everything is increasing and everyone has work pressure. Sometimes you just need a few minutes to yourself, however you get it.’

When they arrived in Lanzarote, they got a £1.20 bus straight to Puerto Del Carmen where Aleksander parked himself on the beach while his daughter went off to shop.

At under £100 per person, it proved to be a bargain day out compared to what Aleksander might have spent in London

They packed light for the day trip, with Aleksander only bringing one small bag containing just a towel, his phone, passport, a powerbank, an empty water bottle, some headphones and his drone.

He relaxed in the sun for four hours, listening to music and flying his drone to take aerial photos of the coast. During the trip, he mostly drank water to save on costs.

He said: ‘It was on a budget, I’m not talking champagne and all-inclusive drinks.

‘I just spent time on the beach, listened to my music, flew my drone and enjoyed the sun. I just relaxed, it’s like meditation, you don’t need much more than that.’

After six hours in Lanzarote they caught a flight home and the trip proved to be a success. They landed back in the UK at around 10:30pm.

Day trip to Lanzarote total cost:

Return flights – £60

Petrol to drive to Gatwick from Surrey – £10

Parking at airport – £15

Bus – £3

Souvenir magnet – £1

Total cost: £99
