The Irish will be able to fly from Dublin to the Caribbean direct for the first time thanks to new non-stop flight

Aer Lingus is set to launch a direct flight from Dublin to tropical Barbados for the first time.

The new route means the Irish will be able to jet off from the capital city to balmy temperatures in the Caribbean.

Flights will initially run for two months from March 31 to May 31, three times a week on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Tickets went on sale yesterday (February 12) and fares are available from €229 (£199.97) each way, including taxes, fees and carrier charges.

The service will depart from Dublin at 1.50pm and touch down in Barbados’ Grantley Adams International Airport at 6pm.

Return trips depart from Bridgetown at 7.30pm and arrive back in Dublin at 8.40am the following morning.

The new flight route will be operated by Aer Lingus’ new fuel-efficient Airbus A321XLR aircraft and will help open the doors for the Irish to enjoy Barbados’ lively culture, beautiful landscapes and vibrant cuisine even more.

Élan Mottley-Harris, director of Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) UK and Ireland, expressed how pleased they were with the new route.

Irish passengers will soon be able to hop on a direct flight to tropical Barbados from Dublin Airport

She said: ‘We are delighted to welcome Aer Lingus’ new direct service from Dublin to Barbados — a landmark development that reflects Barbados’ growing appeal as a distinctive, year-round destination for Irish travellers.

‘Ireland shares a long-standing connection with Barbados, strengthened by deep cultural and community ties.

‘This direct route makes getting to the island easier than ever, and we are confident it will inspire more Irish visitors to choose Barbados for winter sun, summer escapades, special occasions and unforgettable authentic Bajan experiences.’

The new route comes after Aer Lingus axed all long-haul flights from Manchester Airport.

From March 31, 2026, the carrier will no longer fly its transatlantic routes from the busy hub.

The Manchester to New York route will not be available via Aer Lingus from February 23, 2026.

Meanwhile, flights from Manchester to Orlando and Barbados will also stop from March 31. To help affected customers, a service will run from Dublin to Barbados from April to May.

The airline clarified that there should be no ‘impact to operations before these dates’.

Aer Lingus has already opened ticket sales for the route and services will operate three times a week

Flights between Manchester and Ireland by Aer Lingus or Aer Lingus Regional (Emerald Airlines) also won’t be affected.

The airline expressed how it understood the news was ‘disappointing’ and went on to ‘apologise for the disruption to our customers’.

In a statement on its website, Aer Lingus added: ‘All impacted customers are being informed of the cancellation of flights directly and provided with reaccommodation and refund options.

‘We appreciate our customers’ patience and cooperation during this time, as we contact customers directly regarding their flights.

‘If you have already contacted us to request an alternative flight or refund, please be assured that we are working on your request and will be in touch in due course.’
