The most affordable destination for a summer 2026 getaway revealed – with holidays for £33 a night

With mumbles of flight prices increasing due to jet fuel costs and shortages, and a surge of Brits booking European getaways to avoid the Middle East, it might feel impossible to find a budget-friendly break.

Fortunately, one destination in particular has been crowned the most affordable place for a summer 2026 holiday.

Located in Morocco, Agadir is a coastal gem offering plenty of resorts and good weather to enjoy.

Visitors can stroll along long stretches of sandy beach, explore vibrant markets and bask in 300 days of sunshine.

A week-long stay there averages at just £230 per person for package breaks between June 1 and August 31 this year, according to Loveholidays.

This breaks down to a budget-friendly £33 per person per night – meaning the destination offers outstanding value for a break in the sun.

Agadir is just a three-hour flight away from London, and is affordable to enjoy once you’re there.

A pint of local beer costs 50 Moroccan Dirham (£4) and a soft drink is just 8.21 Moroccan Dirham (66p), reports Numbeo.

The boulevards are lined with palm trees and visitors will have countless beach-front bars to choose from.

Its laid-back vibe is complemented by a lively nightlife and plenty of fun activities to try out including water sports and tours f the nearby Souss Massa National park.

Other cheap locations include Spanish hotspots Costa Dorada and Murcia, coming in at £381pp and £399pp respectively for a seven night summer break.

In Murcia, you’ll find picturesque walks on your doorstep while boasts miles of golden beaches,

Meanwhile, Lanzarote ranks as the fourth best budget destination, averaging at £403.

The destination is often praised for its mild temperatures during typically cooler months in the UK, and it doesn’t lose its charm during the summer.

Elsewhere, Gozo in Malta rounds off the top five, with the same price.

Gran Canaria places sixth at £411pp, followed by Riga where breaks can be found for as little as £434pp, Corfu from £438pp, Andalucia from £439pp and Halkidiki from £440pp.

Al Murray, chief marketing officer at Loveholidays, said: ‘Our ranking shows that a week of summer sun doesn’t have to carry a premium price tag.

‘Whether it’s the beaches of Agadir or firm favourites like Costa Dorada and Lanzarote, all offer incredible value for money; a top priority for British holidaymakers.

‘By highlighting these affordable hotspots, we’re helping travellers plan ahead and secure a summer getaway regardless of their budget.’

There has been plenty of discussion recently about where holidaymakers can find a cheap break, and earlier this month Expedia released its 2026 Affordable Destinations report.

It features cities across the US, Asia and the wider world where authenticity, comfort and savings meet – and hotel stays cost under $150 (£112) a night.

In the international list, the most affordable destinations vary from classic favourites to hidden gems.

Leading the top 10 is Salvador, Brazil, the spiritual home of the nation’s rich Afro-Brazilian culture.

The municipality is known for its golden sand beaches, colourful buildings and old town with baroque churches and art museums.

Two other South American metropolises feature on the list: Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, and Brazil’s São Paulo.

Guadalajara and Mérida, both in Mexico, also make the top 10.
