Universal has big news for its littlest fans with the launch of a brand new theme park experience created especially for families with small children.
Opening its gates on July 1, 2026, Universal Kids Resort in Frisco, Texas, will introduce an immersive 20-acre destination packed with themed lands, interactive attractions, sensory-friendly spaces, and a dedicated resort hotel.
The park will feature seven vibrant worlds inspired by beloved franchises, including Shrek, Jurassic World, Minions, SpongeBob SquarePants, Trolls, and more.
Across the resort, families can enjoy more than 30 experiences ranging from rides and live entertainment, to play zones, character meet-and-greets, and themed gardens.
One of the standout areas, DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp, invites visitors into Shrek’s storybook world.
Families can board Shrek & Fiona’s Happily Ogre After, a family-friendly attraction that retells the couple’s action-packed love story.
The land will also include two play spaces built for Shrek’s triplets: Shrek’s Swamp Rompin’ Stomp and the splash-filled Shrek’s Swamp Splash & Smash.

Nearby, DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots Del Mar brings a coastal carnival atmosphere to the park.
Guests can take flight aboard Swings Over Del Mar, enjoy the puppet performance Mama Luna’s Adopt a Kitty Day, try classic midway games, and meet familiar characters from the franchise.
Fans of Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants can step directly into Bikini Bottom, where several attractions recreate iconic locations from the animated series.
Families can float through Jellyfish Fields Jamboree, explore the town aboard the Barnacle Bus, battle with water cannons on Bobbing Barrels, or spin through Mrs. Puff’s Boating School.
Another high-energy land, Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions, transforms Bello Bay Club into a playful showdown between the mischievous Yellow and Purple Minions, featuring the family boat ride Bello Bay Cruise and the chaotic Bello Bay Golf Cart Derby.
Music and dancing take centre stage in DreamWorks’ TrollsFest, home to the King Trollex Techno Dance Party and a colourful live stage production inspired by the Trolls universe.
Guests can also hop aboard Rhonda’s TrollsFest Express or rise high above the park on Hair in the Clouds.
For dinosaur lovers, Jurassic World Adventure Camp offers several themed thrills.
The park also features a colourful, 300-room (pictured) hotel on-site, offering family-friendly amenities
The area includes the family coaster Jurassic World: Cretaceous Coaster, the spinning attraction Mr. DNA’s Double Helix Spin, and Pteranodrop, which lifts riders for sweeping views across the park.
Younger explorers can also roam through Jurassic World Lookout Towers and Paddock Play.
At the heart of the resort sits the Isle of Curiosity, the park’s central gathering space.
Featuring shaded green spaces, interactive activities, and shopping experiences, the area will also include appearances from characters such as Gabby from Gabby’s Dollhouse.
For guests needing a breather or a chance to rest between all the excitement, the park will also have plenty of multiple sensory spaces.
But the fun doesn’t have to end when the park gates close, as families can stay just steps away at the all-new Universal Kids Resort Hotel, located at the entrance to the park.
Featuring 300 rooms and family suites, the colourful hotel offers an array of family-friendly amenities, including an outdoor pool, an arcade room, fitness centre, and unique dining options that can satisfy even the pickiest of eaters.
