Jet2 reveals new ‘business class only’ plane – with just 76 seats and upgraded dining

Jet2 has launched its first ever VIP aircraft, featuring 76 business class seats, extra legroom and a luxurious onboard experience.

Normally configured with 189 seats, the specially designed plane offers a minimum of 43in of legroom throughout.

It also provides enhanced levels of comfort, more personal space and a level of exclusivity.

The Boeing 737-800NG has flown its first customers and is available for further charter bookings throughout the winter season.

It marks the first time that Jet2 has configured an aircraft in a business class specification.

Jet2 has not revealed the price of chartering these flights, instead saying it will vary depending on specific requirements – and anyone interested should contact the airline’s charter team directly.

However, the cost of a VIP airliner could cost from £10,300 per hour, according to Private Jets United Kingdom – which translates to around £135.50 per seat per hour.

Jet2 has announced the launch of its first aircraft configured in a ‘business class only’ layout

Estimates vary, though, with some sources saying it could cost as much as $330 (£248) per seat, per hour if the flight is fully booked, Simple Flying reported.

Based at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Jet2’s charter aircraft has been introduced in response to growing demand.

This has mainly come from sports teams, music and entertainment groups, as well as other charter customers seeking greater privacy, comfort and flexibility.

Customers will also benefit from upgraded catering that is tailored to their personal requirements.

So far, the airline says feedback has been ‘exceptional’, with praise for the premium feel, comfort, generous personal space and exclusive onboard environment.

Wizz Air UK, meanwhile, was given permission to provide tailored charter flights for European football teams and supporters travelling to the World Cup this summer, and to tour operators organising group travel to the US.

It comes amid a boom in the demand for luxury travel, with Global Airlines one such example, aiming to bring back the ‘golden age of air travel’

Similarly, French boutique carrier La Compagnie offers business-class-only flights

Similar luxurious airline offerings have arisen as of late.

Global Airlines, the start-up carrier founded by British entrepreneur James Asquith, is aiming to begin services to the Maldives before the end of 2026 as it looks to expand beyond its first transatlantic flights.

The new service would mark a major leap for Global Airlines, which launched in 2022 with bold plans to bring back the ‘golden age of air travel, with a modern flair’ using Airbus A380 superjumbos.

Ambitious plans drummed up by the CEO include 12ft-long ‘suites’ for passengers in first class, as well as a ‘Gamer class’ equipped with Xbox and PlayStation consoles.

The company originally aimed to start flying from London Gatwick in 2023 and have 100 planes operating across Europe by 2025. But, like most start-ups, they hit a few bumps in the road and fell behind schedule.

It is not the only airline to offer business-class-only planes.

Jet2’s offering will provide an enhanced onboard experience, with dedicated staff and upgraded dining

French boutique carrier La Compagnie operates flights from New York to Paris, Nice, or Milan, with a 100 per cent business-class cabin.

All seats on board the carrier’s planes convert into fully flat beds for optimal rest, and dining options are elaborate.

Each seat features an adjustable reading light, personal storage, power outlets, headphone jack and a document pouch – and passengers are given hypoallergenic pillows and a travel kit with Caudalie skincare products.

Trevor Caplis, head of charter and airline sales at Jet2, said: ‘This is the first time that we have featured a dedicated business class specification on our aircraft, so this is an incredibly exciting development for charter customers.

‘This luxurious cabin environment, alongside the award-winning Jet2 customer service, looks set to be a huge hit with charter clients this winter.’
