Drivers dropping off or picking up passengers at London Heathrow have seen the cost rise from £6 to £7 for a 10-minute stay, since the beginning of the year.
Meanwhile, London Gatwick increased its drop-off fee from £7 to £10 for 10 minutes earlier this week – now making it the UK’s most expensive airport for drop-off fees.
Fortunately, airport workers have revealed the savviest ways to cut costs before even boarding the plane.
And one way to save a few pounds might not be the most obvious.
If you’re planning on dining and drinking at the hub before your flight, airport workers have said their best advice is to pay for lounge access.
Though it may feel counterintuitive to cough up for the entry fee, it may pay itself back if you use enough of the facilities.

For example, pre-booked lounge access at Manchester Airport comes to £40.99 per adult.
This price includes food, unlimited tea, coffee and soft drinks, and a selection of wine, beers and spirits – all the things that could become quite expensive if paying outright in an airport restaurant.
There are ways to save up to £5 through car parking and shopping too.
Airport workers advise joining loyalty schemes for the travel hub you’re flying from and collect points as you spend to save on future airport-related purchases.
The airport staff also warn against getting ‘carried away at Duty-Free’ and say ‘the deals aren’t always as good as they seem’.
According to the research by eShore, some of the RRPs are marked up, making the reductions appear to be better.
Miniature liquid bottles aren’t good value either, and small bottles of shampoo, body wash and sun cream are often ‘extremely marked up per ml’.
Instead, the airport workers who eShores spoke to advise purchasing full-sized items and pouring them into smaller, reusable containers.
