If you’re tired of wrestling with overhead lockers or constantly worrying about whether your carry-on luggage will pass airline checks, a reliable cabin suitcase is essential – especially when flying with easyJet, where size rules are strictly enforced.

From sleek design, to feather-light handling, to something that’s built to take a few knocks, choosing the right carry-on has the power to make your plane journey a lot more enjoyable.

We’ve tested a variety of under-seat and larger carry-on suitcases, along with holdalls that comply with easyJet’s 45x36x20cm and 56x45x25cm requirements – from sturdy hard-shell cases to flexible soft-sided bags and hybrid models.

Whether you’re a frequent flyer in need of durability and smart compartments, or an occasional traveller looking for something affordable yet efficient, there’s a standout suitcase on our list that’s built for you.

We’ve also included options with handy laptop sleeves, spinner wheels and expandable compartments to suit every kind of trip.

Best suitcases at a glance

Daily Mail Travel Writer Jowena Riley tests a variety of under-seat and larger carry-on suitcases, along with holdalls that comply with easyJet’s 45x36x20cm and 56x45x25cm requirements

How we test

When testing luggage, we don’t just measure it against airline limits – we take it for a physical spin on the road (or, rather the winding hallways of our office).

From zipping through ‘airport terminals,’ to hauling cases onto ‘overhead racks,’ to squeezing in as much as possible without expanding its size, we simulate real travel scenarios to see how each case holds up.

We assess everything from maneuverability and wheel smoothness, size, weight, zips, handles, external compartments and interior layout.

We also pack and unpack them repeatedly to see how well they hold shape and withstand pressure – especially given that they’ll be tucked in a tight space underneath seats or above in overhead lockers.

Beyond performance, we also take into account aesthetics, value for money, and build quality.

Best easyJet cabin bags 2025

1. Best under-seat suitcase for Easyjet (45x36x20cm): Tripp Retro Pewter Underseat Cabin (Dual Wheel)

This Tripp Retro Pewter Underseat suitcase is a winner for me, thanks to its sleek design, 360-degree wheeling and enough space to pack in what you need for a weekend trip

Tripp Retro Pewter Underseat Cabin (Dual Wheel)

The Retro underseat cabin 4 wheel travel suitcase is made from tough and durable ABS. Measuring 45x36x20cm, this stylish suitcase can be taken on EasyJet flights free of charge as well as fitting in most other major airlines.

By Jowena Riley

This stylish, compact, cube-shaped case is an overall winner for me, thanks to its easy, 360 wheeling and extra long adjustable handle – great for people of a taller height.

Not only do I adore the its sleek, chromatic design (which helps disguise any scratches that might appear), the suitcase is surprisingly light to carry when empty.

Its large main compartment, along with its adjacent zip-up area, fits a decent among of belongings.

There’s room enough for a pair of sturdy shoes, a lightweight jacket, accessories, underwear and a small number of tops and bottoms (if you’re especially talented in sardining your clothes, you could fit in much more).

The under-seat case, which can be taken on EasyJet flights free of charge, is also fitted with an integrated TSA Lock, perfect for keeping belongings safe and secure during your travels.

But my favourite feature? The top grab handle, which can adjust to three different heights.

As a 5ft 7in woman, I sometimes struggle with a smaller suitcases as they often have shorter handles – but this Tripp case is a lifesaver as I’m able to pull it along with ease without having to lower and strain my arm.

At £39.50, it’s a bargain buy for travellers needing a chic, compact case for short-haul trips. If I could give it 4.5 stars, I would!

2. Best cabin suitcase for Easyjet (56x45x25cm): Sara Miller Botanic Cabin Case

Sara Miller’s botanic cabin case is beautifully decorated inside and has plenty of pockets and compartments

At first glance, I was taken aback by the beautiful design of the case. The botanical pattern and gold touch of the handle and zip looks classy and stylish.

It doesn’t disappoint inside, either, as the internal fabric is covered in a delicate leafy print.

There are plenty of useful compartments and zippers, probably slightly more than what you would find in a usual case.

The lining feels thick and good quality, as does the outside shell of the case.

It wheels smoothly, but the handle wobbles a little and doesn’t feel very sturdy which could be a problem if the case was packed with quite a bit of weight.

3. Best holdall: Vela 24L Cabin Bag Holdall

The Vela 24L Cabin Bag Holdall has plenty of space for all your packing essentials

By Genie Harrison

Ryanair-approved, I felt confident heading to the airport knowing I would breeze through checks with this bag.

And for a three-day trip, I had plenty of room for all of my belongings.

In addition to my rather bulky work laptop, I fit a change of trousers, several tops, gym kit and a very full washbag.

The only real negative for me was that the bag was quite heavy to carry around on one shoulder, even though the strap was reasonably padded.

4. Best backpack for EasyJet: Cabin Max 30L Metz Hybrid Backpack

Cabin Max Metz 30L Hybrid Backpack

This hybrid carry-on, which complies with EasyJet’s ‘free’ underseat cabin luggage rules, is a smart pick for travellers flying with easyJet who want a compact backpack that still performs.

Review

By Jowena Riley

This bag checks a lot of the right boxes: it meets easyJet’s under-seat size allowance (45 × 36 × 20 cm) so you shouldn’t need to worry about unexpected charges at the gate.

Its hybrid design offers both backpack straps and a trolley style handle/wheels option – a standout feature that gives flexibility depending on whether you’re walking through an airport, running to a gate, or dragging along heavy stuff.

Another cool addition are the ‘hidden’ backpack straps that are cleverly concealed behind a velcro flap when using it as a trolley.

For £45, the backpack is reasonably priced. But despite boasting plenty of compartments, its 30 L capacity is fairly modest.

If you tend to travel with lots of gear, bulky clothes, souvenirs etc., you might find it tight or need to be quite strategic with packing.

For tall travellers dragging behind, the handle extension might be a little short compared to full-size trolleys.

5. Best compact suitcase for EasyJet: Flight Knight 8-Wheel Carry-on Case

The nifty case has the same handy compartments as most full-sized luggage

Review

By Alesia Fiddler

This tiny suitcase has everything covered: a stylish hard shell, eight wheels and even a combination lock.

It impressively beats size restrictions across 109 airlines, including easyJet, Ryanair, Jet2 and TUI.

The exterior looks sleek and modern but this compact case doesn’t stop impressing inside, either.

Both compartments securely hold items – one with an elastic strap, and the other zips.

It glides smoothly and feels comfortable to pull or push along through a busy airport – the adjustable telescopic handle helps with this.

The only downside is it feels much heavier than some of the other options, especially when compared to a soft, fabric bag of the same size.

6. Most affordable suitcase for EasyJet flights: Tripp Holiday Slate Underseat Cabin Suitcase

For travellers who don’t want to get caught out by their ‘small’ rucksack not fitting in the dreaded EasyJet sizer at check-in, the Tripp Holiday Underseat Cabin is a good choice

Review

By Alesia Fiddler

The case easily glides around on its four wheels and feels steady, even when going over bumps.

Slate grey on the outside and a dark brown lining inside, the case feels more luxurious than the price.

It also doesn’t feel like it would scratch easily unlike some other hard-shell materials.

Tripp is often reasonably priced for the quality of its luggage and this particular cabin case comes with a five-year guarantee.

As for the sizing, at 45cm x 36cm x 20cm it is well within Ryanair’s restrictions for cabin bags meaning you don’t have to worry about getting caught out.

Though this does mean you’re missing out on some space that could be used to bring an extra outfit.

It’s a strong option for travellers who want to buy a cabin case for a decent price but that will still last a while.

7. Best children’s suitcase for EasyJet: Cabin Max Anode Bop Children’s 30L Underseat Small Suitcase

Anode Bop Children’s 30L Underseat Small Suitcase

Designed specially for young adventurists, this compact suitcase comes in bright, kid-friendly colours: Aquabop, Lunabop, and the striking yellow Sunnybop. Lightweight and easy to wheel, the Anode Bop slips easily into the seat in front and is the perfect size for little explorers to pull along on their overseas trips.

Review

I tested the Anode Cabin Max children’s yellow suitcase with my 10-year-old nephew, and it not only impressed me, but he was incredibly content wheeling along his new travel accessory.

The case feels durable, handling bumps and drops without scuffs, yet it’s very lightweight, so kids can manage it independently.

After spending some time deciding on which colour to choose, I went with the bright yellow colour as it’s cheerful and easy to spot on a carousel.

Inside, the compartments are well designed, with straps and a zipped section that keep clothes organised.

The wheels roll smoothly and the handle is comfortable, making it easy for kids to pull along.

I’d rate it four out of five stars for family trips and short breaks with great confidence.

8. Best luxury EasyJet suitcase: Briggs & Riley Global 53cm Carry-On Expandable Spinner Suitcase in Plum

By Jowena Riley

This suitcase is the ideal pick for the female traveller seeking both style and substance.

From the moment you pick it up, there’s a sense of premium craftsmanship, the rich plum colour adds a feminine, refined touch, and the build is solid and confident.

The expansion system is impressive. The bag grows to accommodate extra packing volume (up to 25 per cent more) thanks to a one-touch CX mechanism.

The case itself features compression panels, garment folders, and pockets for accessories – perfect for when you travel for business or leisure and want things to stay in place and crease-free.

Its best feature? The lifetime Simple as That warranty, meaning if it’s ever damaged (even by an airline), you can get it repaired.

9. Best luxury holdall for EasyJet: Briggs & Riley Large Spinner Brief in Black

Briggs & Riley Large Spinner Brief

This spinner brief organises all of your business essentials in three sections (with dedicated space for laptops up to 17″), and effortlessly glides on 360° wheels – perfect for navigating tight aisles and crowded spaces. At 38.1 x 44.5 x 24.8 cm, it’s perfect to slot into overhead cabin spaces on easyJet flights.

Product SpecsMaterial800D Nylon BallisticCapacity28.2 litresSize38.1 x 44.5 x 24.8 cmWeight3.9 kgReview

This spinner brief is perfect for the well-travelled businessman.

The three-section layout (organiser section up front, a main compartment, and a padded tech/laptop sleeve) means your personal belongings are neatly organised. It even fits a 17″ laptop snugly.

If you fly regularly for work, need to carry laptop, documents, and a change of clothes (or an overnight stay) and still look put-together, this bag hits strong.

The black colour keeps things classic and professional, and the roll-along format means less strain on shoulders and back.

The lifetime ‘Simple as That’ guarantee gives peace of mind – if you invest nearly £500, you want assurance it will last.

Our verdict

The suitcase I recommend most confidently for stress-free underseat travel is the Tripp Retro Pewter Underseat Cabin (Dual Wheel). It fits easyJet’s free underseat allowance perfectly, rolls smoothly, looks polished and – crucially – avoids extra fees.

For those who want to elevate their travel experience, the ultimate luxury option is the Briggs & Riley Global 53cm Carry-On Expandable Spinner Suitcase in Plum.

It’s designed to meet easyJet’s larger paid cabin size, offers exceptional build quality and expandable space, and comes with the brand’s lifetime guarantee – essentially an investment piece for frequent flyers.

FAQs

What luggage is allowed on easyJet for free?

easyJet passengers can bring one free underseat bag on board, which must fit under the seat in front of you. This includes small cabin suitcases, backpacks or compact holdalls that stay within the airline’s size limits. Anything larger requires purchasing an additional cabin bag or checking luggage into the hold.

What’s the best type of bag for easyJet underseat travel?

A structured underseat cabin case or compact backpack is ideal. Wheeled underseat suitcases, like the Tripp Retro, offer easy movement through airports, while soft backpacks and holdalls provide flexibility and can be easier to squeeze under seats when planes are full.

How can I make packing for easyJet easier?

Planning is everything – choose luggage designed specifically for underseat or cabin dimensions, use packing cubes to maximise space and stick to versatile clothing.

Bags with multiple compartments help keep essentials accessible, especially for short-haul trips where you don’t want to open your case mid-flight.
