Bride books an entire seat for her wedding dress on Ryanair flight – would YOU do it?

Getting married abroad can take a lot of planning – from the venue, to how you’re going to get there.

But another aspect to consider is how to safely transport the wedding dress to the destination.

One bride-to-be resolved this issue by bringing her beloved dress along on the flight with her.

She reveals in a TikTok video, @misskellymaria, how she wanted to keep close tabs on the outfit so booked an additional seat just for it.

‘There was no way my wedding dress was leaving my side & we were allowed it on board providing we booked an additional fare & seat,’ she explains in the caption.

Footage shows the dress placed beside Kelly in the window seat, on what appears to be a Ryanair plane, with a seatbelt fastened over it.

‘Each airline will have a different policy so best to check & get it reconfirmed by a separate person just to be sure,’ she adds.

The passenger even had to put the dress through the airport security scanners before boarding.

The outfit even had its own boarding pass with its assigned seat.

‘I had to put it in a tray to be scanned but there was no issue! At the gate you just show them both boarding passes as the additional seat will have its own one,’ Kelly reveals in a comment.

Ryanair’s policy states, ‘Objects which are unsuitable for being carried in the hold ( such as delicate but small musical instruments, wedding dresses, hat boxes and so on) may be carried in the cabin if they can be safely and conveniently secured in an extra seat which you have paid for.’

The airline says passengers can book a seat specifically for the special item and continues: ‘To book an extra seat for an item, on the booking form enter “Item seat” as the last name and “Extra” as the first name.

‘”Extra Item seat” will then be displayed in the reservation and on the boarding pass.’

The passenger will be required to input their travel-document details when checking in for the extra seat.

The item’s additional seat doesn’t include a baggage allowance.

And, as they’re emergency exit rows, rows one, 16 and 17 cannot be used in this way.

Other travellers admitted in the comments to doing the same, and one person said: ‘I just bought a seat on a Ryanair flight for my dress hahah.’

Someone else took a different approach and admitted: ‘Mine was squished in a carry-on case across four flights and a boat.’

Meanwhile, one bride found herself in an entirely different class from her dress and explained: ‘Mine got put in First Class while I sat back row economy.’

‘And you gave it the window seat it deserves,’ another quipped.
