A Brit who moved to Australia has revealed a ‘baffling’ feature in the trains found Down Under.
Megan Mateer shared a video of trains in Sydney, Australia’s largest city, highlighting their genius feature.
She wrote: ‘Their trains are so much cooler here.’
Megan demonstrates how in the city’s trains, you can simply move the backrest of the seats to alter the direction you’re facing while travelling.
This means groups can sit together if they want, while those travelling alone or in pairs can sit without facing others.
It also means you can change the direction you face while travelling, which is great for those who suffer from motion sickness, as many prefer to face forward while a train is moving.
Megan wrote: ‘As a Brit in Australia, this baffled me.’
The video, which she posted on her TikTok @megmateer, has racked up almost 13 million views.

Fans were quick to take to the comments section of the video to share their reactions.
On the one hand, many were equally baffled and impressed by the feature.
One viewer wrote: ‘I need this. I hate going backwards.
Another added: ‘One of the best things about Sydney trains.’
Meanwhile, a third chimed in: ‘As an Australian this has baffled me too because this is just a Sydney thing.’
However, others pointed out similar features around the world.
A Brit wrote: ‘All tram seats in Blackpool used to be like this.’
Plus, another commented: ‘Trams had this over 100 years ago in Scotland.’

Several American viewers said this exists on some trains in the US, too.
Others pointed out some humorous downsides to the genius technology, with one says: ‘I dunno… I’d feel kinda insulted if a new passenger jumped on and transformed the chair.
‘Or even worse, imagine if they did just so they could face another stranger.’
Another wrote: ‘It’s because Australia is upside down so they need to be able to flip their seats to sit with gravity!’
