Many family holidays will have centred around a trip to one of the three Butlin’s parks along the British coast over the years.
Now, the classic seaside resort company is turning 90 and a special weekend break has been planned dedicated to marking the huge milestone.
Kicking off on April 10, Butlin’s guests will be treated to a range of shows and activities across three nights of birthday celebrations.
The original Butlin’s resort in Skegness was first opened back on April 11, 1936 by Billy Butlin.
In honour of the special moment, a dazzling firework and laser display will be held on Saturday, April 11, at the Skegness park, as well as at the Bognor Regis and Minehead resorts.

Special details nodding to the opening feature throughout, including the fireworks party beginning at 19.36 – referencing the year.
It will be hosted by the iconic Redcoats alongside Billy and Bonnie, before a nine-minute show will light up the skies celebrating every decade of Butlin’s.
Other fun activities will include the Birthday Party Bingo in Reds, which will feature themed games, party dances and a special moment when the number 90 is called out.
The fun game will be added to the programme on all breaks until the end of 2026.
Any guests who are also celebrating a birthday over the 90th anniversary weekend will be treated to their own special moment, too.
If a weekend celebrating Butlin’s appeals to you, the holiday park company is also looking for the ‘ultimate Butlin’s family’.
The resort company is offering a special invitation to the 90th birthday break in Skegness.
To enter the competition, families need to head to the Butlin’s social media pages and demonstrate why they should be crowned worthy winners.
The lucky family will be treated to three nights in a Maple Walk Premium Lodge, as well as an all inclusive drinks package, premium dining plan, and Early Access VIP passes for the entire group.
For those wanting to celebrate with Butlin’s and book the anniversary weekend, prices for the three-night break start from £214.
Mike Godolphin, Butlin’s entertainment director, expressed how the company ‘can’t wait to celebrate with everyone’.
He said: ‘No one does it bigger and better than Butlin’s, and we’ve been proudly doing it for 90 years.
‘A milestone this special deserves a Butlin’s style celebration to match. From the spectacular firework and laser display and incredible entertainment across the weekend, we can’t wait to celebrate with everyone across the three resorts.
‘This weekend is not only dedicated to the memories made over the last nine decades at our resorts.
‘We’re also looking to the future, and all the special moments that will be made at Butlin’s in the next 90 years.’
