Gatwick set to add seven new airlines in 2026 – including Jet2 and Air France

Holidaymakers can rejoice as London Gatwick Airport is set to add seven new airlines to the hub in 2026.

The major airport welcomes around 40 million passengers a year jetting off to destinations all over the world.

And 2026 is set to be another busy period, with Jet2 set to be one of the new additions coming to Gatwick.

The UK’s third-largest airline will bring six aircraft and will fly 29 routes across Europe, Travel and Tour World reports.

Routes will begin from March 26, 2026 to a range of different locations across Spain, the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands, Greece, Turkey, Portugal, Malta, Italy, Croatia, Bulgaria and Cyprus.

The new arrival is expected to bring 300 direct jobs to the local area, including flight deck, cabin crew, engineering and ground operations. Hundreds more are also thought to be created through the wider supply chain.

Air France is also set to secure a spot at Gatwick Airport.

From March 29, the French airline will offer a new direct service twice a day to Paris, from Gatwick to Charles de Gaulle.

German carrier Eurowings will make its debut in the busy hub from March 29, launching 13 flights a week to Cologne.

From April 13, it will provide six weekly services Stuttgart too.

Another German airline, Condor, has also secured flights from Gatwick to Frankfurt from April.

Beijing Capital Airlines will also reportedly launch flights from Gatwick to Qingdao, in East China’s Shandong province.

Meanwhile, from March 29 Air Arabia will offer twice-daily flights to Sharjah, in the United Arab Emirates.

It will be the only direct service between this UAE destination and the UK.

Romanian airline AminaWings is launching flights between Bucharest and London Gatwick from March 22, six days a week.

Last year, Gatwick added many other airlines to its offerings – including Qanot Sharq, Kenya Airways, Uganda Airlines, Air Peace and Skybus.

In September, the airport was given the go-ahead to open a second runway – set to cost an impressive £2.2billion.

Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander gave the nod of approval to the plans for the privately financed project.

The new runway could potentially mean travellers can fly to a whole host of new destinations.

The project will see the West Sussex airport will move its emergency runway 13 yards north, so it can be used for departures of narrow-bodied planes such as Airbus A320s and Boeing 737s.
