A newlywed couple from USA managed to utilise their home purchase and turn it into a free luxury honeymoon.
Alex and Lu bought a new home when they moved to Minneapolis in 2024 after relocating from New York City.
Lu works in marketing, while Alex specialises in the HR technology sector. Both have a passion for travelling and are self-described points-and-miles obsessives.
The pair collected so many points through RBN Rewards during the process of buying their new home that they were able to use them to cover the cost of their honeymoon.
RNB Rewards is a program available to customers around the globe, including the UK, that allows homebuyers and sellers to earn substantial rewards by working with an RBN Participating Agent.
The points can be redeemed on a range of things including travel, luxury experiences, home-related benefits or mortgage savings.
Alex and Lu managed to book a trip to luxury, five-star, all-inclusive honeymoon at Xcaret Arte, a top-tier resort in Mexico’s Riviera Maya without spending anything on flights or accommodation.
‘I’m constantly looking for ways to turn big life expenses into meaningful travel,’ said Alex.

With their points, they were able to enjoy an action-packed, luxurious honeymoon of their dreams.
The pair went zip-lining through the jungle and gazed at the sunrise while they paddle boarded through cenotes.
‘It was an adventure without stress,’ said Lu.
‘After buying a house and planning a wedding, having a fully booked five-star honeymoon waiting for us was incredible.’
They also went swimming in underground caves and tucked into amazing food.
‘Turning a home purchase into a luxury honeymoon through RBN Rewards is something we never imagined,’ said Alex.
‘It made the whole experience feel like a win from start to finish.’
Another crafty traveller, Dominica, who goes by @dreanvacations4all on TikTok, also managed to get free nights at a hotel using rewards points.

She shared the hack in a video and revealed how she stayed in Marriott hotels for three nights without paying.
It involves linking a Starbucks Rewards account to Marriott account and collecting points as you spend on coffee and drinks.
Dominica explained: ‘If you love Starbucks like I do and you are a Marriott member like I am, have y’all linked those accounts?
‘I have gotten so many extra Marriott points by having those two accounts linked. I’ve gotten like three free night stays already just from getting those point bonuses.’
However, the deal is only available in the States, according to the Marriott Bonvoy website
