Inside the birthplace of Winnie the Pooh – where to visit the real Hundred Acre Wood

Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger and Roo are household names thanks to A A Milne’s beloved childhood tales.

Now you can take an inside look at the birthplace of the bear – and explore the famous Hundred Acre Wood in real life.

Pooh Corner Hartfield, located in Ashdown Forest, has a tea room, gift shop and museum in East Sussex.

Tania Alexis, a Winnie the Pooh fan, shared her visit to the woods on social media.

She posted a video on her TikTok account @taniaalexispomroy detailing all the activities on offer.

She said: ‘Have you ever wanted to visit the real-life 100 Acre Woods? If so, you can actually go.’

Tania added: ‘There is so much to do there. We started off in the tea room where I ordered hot chocolate and teddy bear toast.

‘Both were adorable and so delicious.

‘Afterwards we had a browse in the museum where they had a lot of the original memorabilia.

‘And then of course, a look in the gift shop, because I can’t leave without taking one of two trinkets home.’

Tania then headed for a walk towards Pooh Bridge.

She said she stopped along the way to find Piglet’s house and pick up sticks for a classic game of Poohsticks on the bridge – where players drop sticks from one side of a bridge into moving water and race to the other side to see whose stick emerges first.

Tania said: ‘If you’re ever near, I definitely recommend a visit.’

Fans were quick to take to the comments to share their excitement about the destination.

One viewer wrote: ‘Winnie the Pooh is my special interest I’ve been so many times ahah!’

A second added: ‘I love this place so many memoriesss.’

Meanwhile, a third chimed in: ‘I’ve been wanting to go here for the longest! I’ll have to make it a summer must.’

Tania’s not the first to enjoy this family-friendly day out.

Another TikToker, @kaceyella, also shared her visit in a video.

She wrote that she made her boyfriend drive four hours to see the forest.
