Moment pensioners unearth jaw-dropping haul of alcohol, snacks – and even instant coffee – for a 90-minute journey

A group of pensioners were captured with an impressive haul of train snacks – including instant cappuccinos, sandwiches, wine gums and at least 12 small alcoholic beverages.

The group of women, on board a train, began to unpack their bags – revealing the mass of food and drinks they had previously purchased.

Emily Anderson, who shares videos to her 7,500 followers on her Instagram account @silent_disco_hereford, shared a clip of the collection online.

The women are filmed unpacking a box of Nescafe instant cappuccinos, four mini bottles of prosecco, several gin and tonics in a can, sandwiches, chocolate bars, wine gums – and a single bottle of water.

One of the women says: ‘We’re only on the train for an hour and 45 minutes!’

‘Why do we need instant coffee?’ one of the women can be heard asking.

Another responded: ‘Because she won’t pay for a coffee – it’s hot water.’

As for the wine gums, one of the other members of the gang says: ‘You can put them in to flavour your drinks.’

Another of the women, commenting on the haul, says: ‘I’m exhausted. Right, put it all back in the bag now.’

Viewers were quick to chime in with their thoughts in the comments section, with many hailing the group as ‘legends’.

One wrote: ‘I see my future and it’s bright.’

Another added: ‘All of that and only ONE water… legends.’

A third said: ‘They can be my besties,’ while another wrote, ‘My type of girls.’

They were also described by one viewer as ‘the only train companions I want.’

Others were far more critical.

One cynic wrote: ‘This is the reason why I sit in the silent coach.’

To avoid buying coffee on board, they also brought with some instant cappuccino sachets

Another added: ‘Why do I feel like I’m the only one that thinks this is tacky?’

A third said: ‘I find it crazy since I don’t drink anymore how many people see drinking alcohol on a daily basis as a usual thing.’

And they’re certainly not the first to enjoy food and drink on board a train.

Last year, a stag do group needed something more than snacks from the on-board trolley to line their stomachs.

So they organised for a stack of 15 large Domino’s pizzas to be delivered to them on the ScotRail service when it called at Montrose station.

A video revealed the moment that the train pulled into the stop, where two Domino’s workers were waiting on the platform and quickly handed over their food.

The staff had to act quickly to give the group the pizzas before the doors closed on board the service from Glasgow to Aberdeen.
