Marbella has been a popular destination for Brits for years, with hordes flocking over to soak in the sun and sandy beaches.
But another Spanish seaside town is offering better value and authentic, local charm.
Also in Costa del Sol, Estepona is an alternative to the glamourous, party city and has become one of southern Spain’s most appealing lesser-known destinations.
Once a sleepy fishing town, Estepona is Marbella’s quiet neighbour but has plenty to offer for holidaymakers.
It boasts a range of sophisticated bars and modern dining, all with traditional Andalusian culture.
Drinks are affordable too, with a pint of local beer coming to just €2.20 (£1.91).

The old town is packed with stylish cocktail bars and drinks there typical cost around €10 to €12 (£8.70 to £10.40).
Estepona’s pricier neighbour, Marbella, often sees similar cocktails going for €20 (£17.40) or more, especially around Puerto Banús.
As for food, there’s everything from traditional tapas bars to more modern, Mediterranean restaurants.
Holidaymakers can tuck into fresh seafood and authentic Andalusian dishes – all served as generous portions and reasonable prices.
A three course meal with wine will typically cost between €30 to €40 (£26 to £35) per person.
But in Marbella, visitors could find themselves paying up to €50 to €70 (£43 to £60), or more in the destination’s smarter restaurants.
Holidaymakers won’t find themselves stuck for fun in the evening, even without megaclubs and huge parties.
Estepona offers bustling late night cocktail bars, live music venues and relaxed lounges – creating a sophisticated and grown-up feel for the area.
A stay at the dreamy location won’t break the bank, and TUI offers four-night breaks in Estepona priced from £256 per person.
This is based on two people sharing a self catering apartment and flying from Luton Airport in on May 9.

The area boasts a a maze of winding, characterful streets adorned with colourful flowers.
