The top travel destinations Brits are heading to in 2026 have been revealed in eDreams ODIGEO’s Year In Travel report, released today.
The study found that Bangkok is the most searched-for destination among Brits for the upcoming year.
This is followed by Tokyo and Orlando, both of which are popular travel destinations.
However, when it comes to the destinations that Brits actually went ahead and booked, it seems UK tourists are more keen on European city breaks.
Amsterdam, Barcelona and Rome rank as the top three booked destinations for 2026.
The data, from Opodo, part of eDreams ODIGEO, revealed that, overall, the most popular destinations for global traveller searches are Bangkok and Tokyo.
Paris came in third place – a similar trend to 2025 travel searches.
For global bookings, Bangkok also ranks highest, followed by Paris and Rio de Janeiro.

The report also revealed popular destinations for 2025.
Bookings data from Brits revealed the top growth destinations, this year, were those offering world-renowned French wine, Portuguese festivals, Spanish architecture and history, UNESCO World Heritage and more.
The top spots were Bordeaux, France, Funchal, Portugal, and Sevilla, Spain.
Among global travellers, London remains popular, ranking fourth in global searches and sixth in bookings for 2026.
The types of trips booked were mostly quick trips. For UK travellers, short stays of three to four days were also the most popular (35 per cent of bookings, on par with last year).
Travel trends dominating the landscape in 2025 and 2026 include transformational or purpose-driven travel, where your trip is designed for learning and personal growth rather than just relaxation.
Other trends include using AI in travel planning, wellness and longevity travel for holistic health and deeper restoration, eco-conscious travel, and flexibility.
Event-driven travel, for instance, for festivals, concerts and cultural moments, will also be significant.

For 2026, travel will be shaped by major global trends and events, such as Rio Carnival or the hotly anticipated FIFA Men’s World Cup.

‘Travellers are no longer just booking holidays, they’re curating journeys that reflect their values, passions, and desire for personal growth.
‘From the rise of transformational and wellness-focused travel to the increasing popularity of culture-rich city breaks, we’ve seen a clear shift toward purpose-driven exploration.’
