Just last week, Brean Theme Park in Somerset announced it had officially entered liquidation.
The sprawling amusement park has more than 40 rides and is free to enter, with customers only charged for credits to hop on the various attractions.
Falling visitor numbers since the pandemic contributed to Brean’s struggles.
Meanwhile Pontins Brean Sands, located nearby, closed down and is currently used to house Hinkley Point C workers rather than tourists.
It is thought this change severely impacted footfall to the attraction too.
On 28 January, 2026, liquidators from Hazlewoods LLP were appointed, and it was reported the theme park would cease all trading except for what is necessary to complete the closure process.
But now, the ‘Home of Sooty and Sweep’ has confirmed it will still be reopening to the public.
An update shared on the website by general manager Peter Mainwaring said: ‘We are working hard behind the scenes and will reopen for the 2026 Summer Season from Easter.’

Peter revealed the ‘group structure’ of the company has changed and ‘preparations are underway’ for reopening to the public soon.
The statement continued: ‘Although the group structure has changed, our loyal visitors will still enjoy the same park, the same team, and the same great day out.
‘For clarity, Brean Theme Park is not owned by Unity Holidays. We operate as a fully independent business and lease land from them.
‘We look forward to continuing to work together.
‘Preparations are underway and we can’t wait to welcome you back very soon!
‘Keep an eye on the website and our socials for updates in the coming weeks.’
The popular park initially opened as a camping and leisure site in the village of Brean – set between between Weston-super-Mare and Burnham-on-Sea – in the 1940s.
It typically opens seasonally between March and October each year.
But now, the ‘Home of Sooty and Sweep’ has shared a major update – it will be reopening later this year
Brean Theme Park has a range of attractions including the thrilling Bulldog Coaster and Orbiter.
Family classics like the dodgems and ‘Waveswinger’ are also available.
It comes shortly after a 106-year-old roller coaster, believed to be the oldest of its kind in Britain, closed permanently.
Dreamland Margate, based in Kent, said last month that the iconic Scenic Railway would ‘take well-earned retirement from operation as a ride’ following safety concerns linked to its age and condition.
