Often filled with the sounds of clinking glasses and friends catching up, bars bring people together with good company and drinks.
The world’s very best has recently been crowned at The World’s 50 Best Bars 2025 annual ceremony in Hong Kong.
Bar Leone, located in Hong Kong’s Central district, took the top spot and is run by Italian bartender Lorenzo Antinori.
The award-winning venue only opened in June 2023 and has already impressed with its classic cocktail and ‘low-intervention approach’.
Instead of following trends, Bar Leone favours ‘simplicity’.
Emma Sleight, Head of Content for The World’s 50 Best Bars, commented: ‘It is a delight to unveil Bar Leone as The World’s Best Bar 2025, sponsored by Perrier.
‘This achievement is the first time a bar from Asia has claimed the top spot and testament to the commitment of Bar Leone in redefining hospitality excellence.
‘We are honoured to spotlight the diversity of the global bar landscape and raise a glass to every bar that has earned their place in the list.’

Handshake Speakeasy in Mexico City was crowned the best in 2024, and remained strong in second place this year.
It impresses with Great Gatsby inspired decor and serves ‘innovative cocktails’ over two bars.
Sips, in Barcelona, came third after previously being named the best in 2023.
The popular spot boasts an ‘eye-catching’ island design and a stunning selection of drinks on the menu.
Another exciting Barcelona menu closely followed Sips in fourth place – Paradiso.
Described as one of the city’s ‘crown jewels’ by The World’s Best Bar 2025, it placed at the top back in 2022 and it’s easy to see why.
Visitors are greeted by an unusual entrance which is disguised as a fridge door in a pastrami shop.
Once they step in, they find themselves in what appears to be the inside of a whale, and are presented with a menu of creative cocktails.

Meanwhile, Connaught Bar, in the heart of Mayfair, came sixth.
