The world’s first Uber snowmobiles to be launched for Winter Olympics

For most people, getting an Uber means putting your journey into the popular app and a car swiftly collecting you and driving to your destination.

The Uber Boat, in London, is another option and works as a river bus service stopping at several ports across the city.

But this time, Uber has taken to the slopes and is launching its first ever snowmobiles just in time for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.

The option will be available from February 4 and will operate every Saturday and Sunday throughout the month.

Uber Snowmobile will allow users to book one-hour guided snowmobile rides through the Dolomites through the Uber app.

The limited-edition service is operated alongside local mountain specialists Snowdreamers and will allow riders to explore scenic areas away from the main village.

Passengers will be fully equipped with safety gear and exclusive Uber-branded winter swag.

Most snowmobile rides are expensive adventures, but Uber’s is completely free to book.

What’s more, transfers to and from the mountain are included in the ride from anywhere in Cortina and the surrounding areas.

Each snowmobile has the capacity to seat up to two riders, and bookings are limited to a maximum of eight people.

However, the service will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and is weather dependent.

Uber is an official sponsor for this year’s Winter Olympics and is expecting to see a surge of people needing rides, in what is expected to be one of the busiest winter travel periods of the year, whether that’s airport transfers, or trips to the venues.

To tackle the crowds, Uber Ski is also being introduced to help those trekking to and from the slopes.

This option is for people travelling with skis, snowboards and winter equipment.

Uber is also expanding its services with Uber Reserve, which will allow travellers to pre-book rides in advance.

The taxi app will have a record 5,000 local drivers across the region and has organised dedicated pick-up and drop-off zones at venue locations.

Anabel Diaz, Vice President, EMEA Mobility at Uber, said: ‘The Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games are about far more than what happens inside the venues.

‘As Official Ride-Hailing Sponsor of Milano Cortina 2026, we’re focused on helping visitors move safely and efficiently — whether that’s getting to the slopes with Uber Ski, planning ahead with Uber Reserve, or accessing the wider alpine landscape through a limited mobility pilot delivered with licensed local operators.

‘It’s about helping people make the most of being here in Cortina and the surrounding region.’

It comes following recent hell on the slopes, as hundreds of skiers battled in hours-long queues on the Dolomites, as the lack of snow shut several runs.
