Gone are the days where we’d spend hours lounging in the sun on an island, enjoying the slower pace of life on holiday.
Nowadays, quick getaways and speedy breaks are all the rage.
The furthest you can push this? An ‘extreme day trip’ – where you fly all the way to a different country for less than 24 hours.
But a travel expert has revealed why ‘cheap’ extreme day trip deals are often too good to be true.
Holiday expert Rob, known on TikTok as @robonthebeach, shared his advice in a video.

‘You’d wake up in Leeds, fire up Skyscanner, find a flight to Girona for £12.
‘You’d fly over, spend the day, and you’d be back before your mum even knew the suitcase was gone.
‘There’s even a Facebook group with more than 250,000 people inside it, full of all these people who live for the buzz, the adrenaline of having no plan, no luggage and no idea where you’re staying that night.

Rob said: ‘I’m not saying don’t do it. But let’s not pretend it’s a maverick move anymore – it’s been monetised and it’s officially not cool.
‘So, RIP extreme day trips. Gone but not forgotten.’
Plenty of viewers were in agreement with Rob, with many writing in the comments that the astronomical cost of extreme day trips is unaffordable.
But others sang their praises of extreme day trips. One fan said you get a lot for your money

It comes after a British couple shared their ‘extreme’ day trip where they spent just seven hours in sunny Benidorm in Alicante, before jetting straight back to the UK.
But it did come at a cost – the total price of the trip was £248 per person, around €280.
