UK’s best airport introduces new check-in rules promising early morning fliers ‘more time to relax’ before take off

One of the UK’s busiest airports has shared a check-in hack for passengers travelling with budget airlines in the early morning, allowing for ‘more time to relax’ prior to take-off.

Though England boasts dozens of airports with unique and efficient amenities, those living in Liverpool are particularly blessed.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport took the top spot in Which?’s Best Airports list for the second consecutive year in a row, beating the likes of London Heathrow and Edinburgh Airport with a high customer satisfaction score of 78 per cent.

Now, the airport has introduced a new flexible check-in system that’s set to delight holidaymakers travelling during the early hours of the morning.

In an ‘amber alert’ published on its website, the airport announced: ‘Passengers travelling with easyJet, Jet2 and Ryanair and departing on flights before 8am can all now check in their hold luggage up to three hours before their departure.

‘Giving more time to relax and make use of the facilities in the Departure Lounge.’

In addition to the early morning bag drop, Liverpool John Lennon Airport is offering Twilight check-in to ease the stress of early departures for Jet2 and Jet2holidays passengers – which allows travellers to check in the night before their flight.

The first step of Twilight check-in is to complete online check-in via Jet2’s website, app, or through their travel agent, at least 24 hours before the flight.

In an ‘amber alert’ published on its website , the airport announced: ‘Passengers travelling with easyJet, Jet2 and Ryanair and departing on flights before 8am can all now check in their hold luggage up to three hours before their departure.’

Hold luggage can then be dropped off at the Jet2 check-in desks at Liverpool Airport between 4.30pm and 9pm the evening before departure.

The following morning, passengers can head straight to security – bypassing check-in entirely and spending more time enjoying the Departure Lounge.

Other budget airlines, such as Aer Lingus, Wizz Air and Dan Air, operate at the airport, so it’s also worth checking each airline’s baggage size, weight and fees regarding check-in and drop off before arriving at the airport.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport also urges passengers to arrive a minimum of two hours before departure to allow enough time to check-in and pass through security.
