UK’s cheapest city for pizza revealed – where a 12″ margherita costs just £8.32

Great news for pizza lovers: next Monday is National Pizza Day.

And for those looking to celebrate in culinary style, you’re in luck – as the UK’s cheapest city for a pizza has been revealed. 

The average 12″ margherita pizza costs £11.27 in the UK, according to recent data. 

But you could knock almost £3 off the price of the dish in some spots across the country.

Bolton has been crowned the cheapest area in the UK for a margherita pizza, costing an average of just £8.32. 

Even compared to neighbouring Manchester (£9.42), Bolton diners save nearly one tenth of the cost. 

Despite its size, this town offers 99 pizza places for takeaway fans, making it the ultimate destination for a budget-friendly margherita.

Middlesbrough takes second place, with pizza lovers paying an average of £8.33 for a 12″ pizza. 

With national pizza day fast approaching, the cheapest spots have been revealed

This budget-friendly price sits over one-quarter (28.94 per cent) below the national average. 

With 84 pizza takeaways, residents aren’t just saving money, they’re also spoilt for choice. 

Ranking in third is Huddersfield, with a 12″ takeaway margherita pizza costing £8.70. 

With 89 pizza outlets to choose from, residents can grab a slice at roughly three quarters of the national average price.

Overall, northern towns and cities are the best for getting your hands on an affordable pizza, with the data from Alliance Online showing they dominate the top 10 rankings.

Yorkshire shines as an affordable region, which is excellent news for pizza lovers in Leeds, Huddersfield, and Bradford.

Meanwhile, Dundee is home to Scotland’s cheapest pizza, costing an average of £10.25 for a 12″ margherita.

That’s marginally cheaper than the capital, Edinburgh, at £10.49.

Bolton has been crowned the cheapest area in the UK for a margherita pizza

In Wales, pizza is cheapest in Swansea, costing residents an average of £10.89, 27 per cent more expensive than in Bolton, the cheapest location.
