A UK town once dubbed the ‘worst seaside’ destination has been named as a must-visit for 2026.
Coastal town Weston-super-Mare has become a popular spot, drawing in visitors with its characterful promenades and attractions.
It has been named the number one trending destination for 2026 by Flixbus, which analysed booking data and forecasted search interest.
The coach company put the renewed interest in the Victorian seaside town down to its ‘nostalgia and novelty’.
Weston-super-Mare boasts retro charm and a large sandy beach where classic coastal attractions like donkey rides can be found.
The Grand Pier is another popular spot and is brimming with arcade machines, rides and traditional seaside treats like ice cream and candy floss.
Those wanting to dive into the local history can visit the Weston Museum and Helicopter Museum.
Independent cafes and eateries offer hearty homecooked meals and there are plenty of markets and festivals throughout the year to enjoy.

The resort dates back to the 18th century and despite being popular for decades, was named one of the country’s worst seaside towns back in 2023 by Which?.
Earlier this year, it was announced that neglected areas in the seaside town would receive funding over the next ten years to help boost the location.
The £20million Pride of Place project will see £2million a year go to locations including Oldmixon, Bournville and Coronation Estates, The Weston Mercury reports.
What’s more, a Wetherspoons hotel in Weston-super-Mare was recently named one of the best pubs in the country.
Boasting a beautiful beachside location, the Cabot Court Hotel has been ranked in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide.
The list aims to name the UK’s best pubs, and has included the hotel. The CAMRA Good Beer Guide adds 900 new entries in the 2026 Guide.
Standing for Campaign for Real Ale, the UK-based organisation recognises high standards in beer quality, pub atmosphere, and service.
The pub’s manager, Nik Pipe, told The Weston Mercury he was thrilled about the news.

He said: ‘I am delighted that Cabot Court Hotel has been recognised for the quality of its real ales by CAMRA members.
‘We offer our customers an excellent range of real ales at all times, including those from regional brewers and microbrewers, as well as hosting our own beer festivals.
‘Staff at the pub work hard to ensure that the real ales on offer are kept in first-class condition at all times and the pub’s inclusion in the guide highlights this.’
Located in a Grade II-listed building and less than one mile from the train station, this hotel is on Weston-super-Mare’s seafront.
