Cruises can involve long stints out at sea, with sometimes days stuck onboard the ship between port stops.

This means getting your suitcase right for the voyage is vital and can really determine how your holiday goes.

There is one packing essential that costs less than £2 that experts recommend for your next cruise trip.

Michelle Gear, Head of Technical and Product Development at clothing company Klass, urges travellers to bring along a ‘crease release’ spray.

You can pick up a 100ml travel-sized bottle of Lenor Spring Awakening Crease Releaser for just £1.49 from Wilko.

It’s a great option when steamers or irons might be banned onboard and will mean any wrinkles your clothes collect during packing can be smoothed out.

But that’s not the only item Michelle recommends packing in your suitcase for a cruise.

Packing cubes are another essential she says can help cruise-goers stay organised.

‘If you’re on a no-fly cruise and don’t need to worry about baggage allowance, packing cubes help compact your items so you can fit more in your suitcase, which is useful when you’re packing outfits for a range of activities,’ she says.

They can be bagged for around £14.99 and make such a difference when packing.

Plus the handy item can be reused for future trips.

Magnetic hooks are another way to keep your cabin organised and make the most out of your limited space.

Walls are often metal on cruise ships meaning the hooks can be easily attached and used to hang things like clothing and accessories.

There are packs available on Amazon for just £6.79.

Cruises can get busy and accidents happen, including drink spillages and sometimes sun cream stains.

To combat this, Michelle recommends bringing along stain remover wipes to avoid having to waste time and money on the onboard laundry services.

Packs sell on Amazon for just £7.27.

Clothes packed away for some time can sometimes smell dusty, but this can be easily avoided for your next voyage.

Michelle recommends bringing along tumble dryer sheets in your case to add a pleasant, refreshing scent to your clothes.

They take up little space and can be found for £11.99 for a pack of three on Amazon.
