🇹🇭 Reopening of PHUKET 🏝️ Budget Travel Tips

It’s time for another trip to Phuket, Pearl of the Andaman. Today I will share some tips on how to travel in Phuket on a budget.

From Phuket Airport, we caught the Airport Bus to the Old Town for only 100 baht per person. The bus takes you directly to the bus station, and runs from 7:30 am to 9:30 pm. There’s also the Phuket Smart Bus that you can take to different beaches, including Kamala Beach, Patong Beach, Karon Beach, and Kata Beach.

There are several budget hotels in Phuket’s Old Town. I would recommend ibis Styles Phuket City, which combines a modern vibe with interior design that reflects Phuket’s cultural mixture of western and eastern art. The interior is clean, spacious, and colorful, and it is located right in the heart of Phuket’s Old Town.

One of the best ways to see Phuket’s Old Town on a budget is to sightsee the city on foot.
Walking helps you burn off some calories and gives you a chance to experience every corner of the town in a way that being in a car never can. You can stop for photos anywhere you want,
or spend as long as you want at a cafe. If you’re into getting the best shots for your social media,
you’ll definitely find great spots in Phuket’s Old Town.

As for food, there are lots of affordable local food in the Old Town. You can find local dishes like Hokkien Noodles, Roti with Curry, Lo Bah (Deep Fried Pork Organs), or a dessert like Oh Aew (Jelly & Beans with Shaved Ice). These are sold from only 40-50 baht each. You should definitely try A Pong, a local snack. It’s only 20 baht for 7 pieces!

Today we’re at Phuket’s walking street, or Lad Yai, as the locals call it. This walking street is only open on Sunday evening. So, plan your trip carefully. But now that we’re here, let’s go explore.

Lad Yai walking street is a great place to showcase Phuket’s culture, from local food to handicrafts. The best part is when these old buildings are lit up at night. It’s such an amazing sight!

From the Old Town, I take the bus directly to Kata Beach for a stay near the beach. Right now a trip to Phuket is really inexpensive, with lots of great deals. From ibis Phuket Kata, it’s only a 5-10 minute walk to Kata Beach. And the room itself gives you everything you need.

Since I’m in Phuket, it’s a must to visit the islands. If you want to keep your trip on a budget, you don’t have to go far. You can get to nearby islands like Koh Lon or Koh Hey by taking public boats that leave at scheduled times for under a thousand baht. Make sure to check the schedule in advance, because some boat trips are only available on weekends. Most boats leave from Chalong Pier.

Today I head to Koh Hey since I hear there’ll be a band playing on the beach. And I just have to join the show!

For beachside activities, I recommend sunbathing, walking, swimming, or kayaking.
The kayaks here are transparent, so you can see underwater as you paddle. See? It’s such an exceptional experience. You need to see for yourself how clear the sea at Phuket is right now.

Now you know there are many ways to Rediscover Phuket while saving money, and still having lots of fun. I hope you all have a great time in your upcoming Phuket trip!
