
A hidden gem ‘ancient magical forest’ can be found around just two hours away from London and offers a perfect escape from bustling city life.
The enchanting woodland area, named Puzzlewood, is thought to have inspired J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.
Situated in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire, the fairy-tale location boasts winding paths and beautiful wooded areas.
A couple, @mrandmrsd.adventures on TikTok, shared a video of the mystical area and described it as an ‘ancient magical forest’.
The footage showed one of the content creators walking over a characterful wooden bridge and wandering past rocky walls covered in moss and greenery.
Elsewhere in the clip, tall trees are revealed looking over a bed of leaves and ferns, as well as intricate steps.
Puzzlewood has featured in several programmes and films, including Merlin, Star Wars and The Secret Garden.
It’s located just a two hour and 45 minute drive away from central London.

Visitors do have to pay a fee to enter, which is £9.90 for adults and £8.50 for children, while youngsters under two are free.
Dogs aren’t allowed to Puzzlewood, and those with children may enjoy a Roman coin trail or the indoor and outdoor play areas.
The woodland changes beautifully with the seasons, and in the spring wild garlic can be found all over the ground. While visitors in the summer will see the area thriving and green.
Inside the forest, there are a range of animals to visit too, including highland cows, ducks, donkeys and chickens.
In the video caption, the couple warn, ‘It can get extremely busy on weekends and school holidays, so plan accordingly and get there when it opens.’
They also add visitors should ‘Be prepared for very uneven ground and lots of steps!’
While their ‘pro tip’ was, ‘It can be VERY muddy in places, especially of visiting during the winter or if there has been lots of rain, so don’t forget the wellies!!’
