Crystal-clear skies, bright blue waters, scorching sunshine and white sand beaches that stretch for miles are more often associated with the likes of the Caribbean than the UK.
While British coasts are popular during the summer, they more likely conjure up an image of seagulls and fish and chips lunches eaten out of newspaper on a pier.
But the best islands in the UK in 2025 have been revealed – and they certainly give off the same appeal as luxurious destinations on the other side of the world.
The Isles of Scilly, located off the coast of Cornwall, have been handed the title of the UK’s best.
The archipelago is made up of five inhabited islands as well as over 140 other smaller islands and inlets, The Sun reported.
Popular islands in the region include St Mary’s, Tresco, St Martin’s, Bryher and St Agnes.
Each island has its own unique features – including gorgeous beaches, hidden coves, rugged coastlines and walking trails.
There’s plenty to do there, too – including coastal walks, kayaking, wildlife watching, and exploring the islands’ unique flora and fauna.

Island-hopping is a popular holiday in the Isles of Scilly, with hundreds of trips running each week.
There are boat services offering trips and excursions, as well as regular water taxi services from their bases to all the other islands, the region’s tourism site explains.
Found approximately 28 miles miles out into the Atlantic Ocean off Land’s End in Cornwall, the islands are easily accessible.
The region varies throughout the seasons – with storms, mist and sunshine found depending on the time of year.
The Isles of Scilly in total have 2,200 residents.
The largest island in the Isles of Scilly is St Mary’s, which is home to around 1,800 residents and serves as the main gateway to the archipelago.
With an area of just over six square miles, it backs in natural beauty in spades – in a small space.
Easily accessible, it’s a perfect place to begin exploring the region.

Meanwhile, Tresco is known for its beauty too, and is a popular location for romantic trips.
It houses the famous Tresco Abbey Garden, as well as white-sand beaches including Pentle Bay and Appletree Bay.
And St Martin’s, at just two miles long, boasts rock pools, blue waters, cliff paths and wildlife.
It’s also home to a tiny community of just 120 residents.
