A couple who sold everything to live on a cruise ship have revealed the downside to life at sea.
Monica Brzoska and Jorell Conley, from Tennessee, packed up their lives in 2023 and have since visiting 45 different countries.
They sold almost all of their belongings and even left their teaching jobs to sail around the globe together.
The married couple caught the cruising bug after enjoying several trips together over the years, visiting various destinations including Costa Rica, Mexico and Grand Cayman.
After watching her parents develop health problems later in life, Monica decided she wanted to see the world before retirement.
Monica and Jorell booked a week-long cruise in March 2023 but instead of coming home, planned further trips.
They decided to keep booking trips consecutively and used their previous cruising experience to find deals.
Monica revealed to The Sun in 2024 how she hadn’t ‘stepped into a kitchen or used a washing machine for a year’.

However, the couple found some downsides to their luxurious lifestyle.
She said: ‘There are challenges, of course. We miss our families, but know we can fly home if there’s an emergency.’
Monica and Jorell initially booked eight months of cruises for £7,900 and have managed to fund extra costs by renting out their three-bedroom house.
‘By the time we stepped on board in March 2023 in Miami, we’d left our jobs and sold nearly all our possessions,’ she recalled.
The risk proved to be worth it, and the couple have explored many beautiful destinations.
Monica has experienced plenty of moments where she ‘kept pinching’ herself.
‘I instantly felt free. We didn’t know how long our money would last, but in the meantime we decided to make the most of every minute,’ she said.
‘We quickly fell into the rhythm of our new life. Before, there had always been lesson plans, cooking and cleaning – but all of that was gone.’
However, the couple found some downsides to their luxurious lifestyle
Monica and Jorell aren’t the only couple to continuously cruise.
Australians Marty and Jessica Ansen, both in their 70s, boarded the Coral Princess in Brisbane on June 16, 2022 and spent 800 days at sea.
The retired pair enjoyed 53 continuous trips on the ship, including two round-the-world ventures.
After disembarking in August last year, they spent three months on land before returning to their cruising lifestyle on the Crown Princess, where they will live until November.
