Wizz Air launches bag drop service at UK airport – the evening BEFORE your flight

Wizz Air passengers will no longer have to struggle with their luggage as they rush to make their flight in time.

The budget airline has introduced a new twilight bag drop service at London Luton Airport.

Holidaymakers are now able to check-in their bags the night before their departure.

The service is available seven days a week and operates between 9pm and 2am. It applies to those flying up to 9am the following morning.

Wizz Air is the third airline to offer late-night luggage check-in at Luton, with easyJet and Jet2 introducing their own last year.

Holidaymakers can jet off to a range of destinations from the busy hub with Wizz Air, including Gdansk, Alicante, and Bordeaux.

The airline is introducing new routes from Luton, too.

From March 29, passengers can bag low-cost fares with Wizz Air to Barcelona, Madrid, Bilbao, Valencia and Seville.

From February 16, Wizz Air holidaymakers have been able to check-in their bags the night before their departure – just in time for February half-term

Clare Armstrong, head of guest experience at London Luton Airport, described how the new service would make things simpler for passengers.

She commented: ‘The launch of another twilight check-in service will mean even more passengers can get their travels off to the swiftest and simplest start and follows another hugely exciting year for LLA, with continued investment in passenger facilities, new shops and restaurants and record customer satisfaction scores achieved.’

Wizz Air has recently made changes to its seating class system and expanded ‘WIZZ Class’ across its entire network, making the service available on additional routes.

It came after a successful trial period at six bases and strong demand from passengers looking for extra comfort – without extortionate fares.

WIZZ Class was initially introduced on selected flights to and from Budapest, Bucharest Otopeni, Warsaw, London Luton, London Gatwick, and Rome Fiumicino.

According to the airline, uptake exceeded expectations – particularly among business travellers looking for more space and a smoother onboard experience.

It’s not an entirely different seat, though.

With WIZZ Class, passengers enjoy a reserved empty middle seat in the first row (1B and 1E), providing extra personal space and a more comfortable environment to relax or work.

The service is available at London Luton Airport seven days a week and operate between 9pm and 2am. It applies to those flying up to 9am the following morning

As the first row also offers additional legroom, the service enhances comfort while maintaining Wizz Air’s efficient single-class cabin layout.

WIZZ Class can be purchased as an add-on during the booking flow when selecting Smart or Plus bundles from February 9, 2026.

These already include priority boarding and a 10kg carry-on suitcase.

In addition to the reserved middle seat, WIZZ Class customers receive a complimentary non-alcoholic drink and snack.
