TV and movie lovers may well recognise the area from their favourite show – its historic streets are a popular site for filming.
Bradford’s Little Germany district is spread across the city’s historic mercantile quarter.
It has featured in the BBC’s Peaky Blinders as well as Netflix’s hit series, The Crown, among other impressive titles.
Back in 2022, TV crew of the royal drama were seen setting up Russian replica police cars, motorbikes and a Rolls-Royce in the streets.
They transformed the area into 1994’s Russia when the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip visited the Kremlin.
The area has previously also been used to film Channel 5’s All Creatures Great and Small
But despite its prominence in the TV world now, the area’s history isn’t big screen and showbiz related at all.

Bradford, in West Yorkshire, evolved into a major market town over the centuries before becoming a prominent producer of wool.
During the 1800s, the city saw a huge influx of German and Irish immigrants move to the area.
Little Germany is made up of the offices and warehouses that were constructed by German wool merchants at the time.
The characterful corner of the city boasts 55 listed buildings across its streets and plenty more historic sites, The Mirror reports.
The Bradford Playhouse is one of the many interesting structures located in Little Germany.
Its main auditorium seats a maximum of 260 people and it has a smaller theatre area too.
Little Germany is also home to Eastbrook Hall, which sits on the site of the former Methodist Chapel.
The Grade II-listed building dates back to around 1903, and the original chapel was built back in 1825.
Those hoping to check out the intriguing area and visit themselves can easily reach Bradford by train.
A journey from London takes around two hours and 30 minutes. Meanwhile, driving is a little longer at approximately four hours.

There are several parking areas near and in the city, as well as sites close to Little Germany.
Last year, Bradford was named as one of Time Out’s best places to visit in the UK.
It ranked fifth overall and was described as a ‘slow burner when it comes to the UK’s best cities’.
Time Out’s Eibhlis Gale-Coleman explained at the time, ‘Just three hours by train from London, it’s an accessible weekend getaway brimming with industrial-era architecture, a thriving performing arts scene and revered Middle Eastern and South Asian cuisine.’
Bradford was also named the City of Culture for the country in 2025.
