Bangkok Travel Guide | Travel Tips for Bangkok Thailand

Bangkok is the capital city of Thailand and attracts tourists from across the globe.
It’s vibrancy, culture and warmth coupled with luxurious malls, hotels and tantalizing street food keeps tourists visiting this incredible city over and over again.

Here is my travel guide for Bangkok, Thailand, it will be specially useful for Indians traveling to Bangkok :-

1. AIR TICKET ✈️✈️

Try booking a direct flight in advance, even a low cost carrier like airasia is not a bad idea as the distance between India and Bangkok is just 4-5hrs.
Cost – ₹ 10k to 18k (return ticket)

Air Asia –

2. VISA 🛃🛃

It’s always better to apply for a visa in India rather than getting a visa on arrival in Bangkok.
It saves a substantial amount of time and money.
Cost – ₹2500 (India) | On arrival visa ₹4000 (2000 Baht)

VSF Visa Website –

3. AREA TO STAY 🏩🏩

Sukhomvit is centrally located and has a lots of malls, restaurants, shops, bars and pubs but choose a hotel that’s a stone throwing distance from a BTS Sky Train Station.( Nana, Asok etc.)
Location :-

4. HOTEL 🏨🏨

There are plenty of options ranging from three star to five star hotels.
All major hotel chains have a property in Bangkok.
Cost – ₹3000 to ₹10,000 (October to February is peak season)
Location of Centre Point Hotel where I stayed :-

5. COMMUTE 🚈🚈

Autos and taxis available are easily available but they are reluctant using the meter. ( Meter Rate 35 Baht for first Km then appx 5 Baht thereafter, Waiting 2 Baht a minute)
In my opinion commuting by road is cumbersome as Bangkok has major traffic jams during morning and evening rush hours.
I advise you to travel by BTS Sky Train as it has a wide network with a good coverage to all major tourist destinations.
Fare 16 Baht to 44 Baht.
Website :-
www.bts.co.th

TIP: Hiring a Cab from the Airport – Hire it from the arrival area, it would cost appx 200 Baht to the city centre.

6. FOOD 🍲🍲

Bangkok is known for its amazing Thai Street Food and it’s a must try !
Indulge in some Som Tam Salad, Tom Yum Soup, Pad Thai Noodles, Thai Green curry with Jasmine rice and traditional thai ice desserts.

Watch my Bangkok Street Food Video for a complete coverage.

One thing that astonished me is that thai food even at a high end mall is very reasonably priced and sometimes it’s even cheaper than the streets.
Terminal 21 Malls food court for example offers meals at around 30 Baht to 45 Baht which is extremely reasonable.

If you like Indian food then check out my Indian food buffet video.

I had an amazing time at Maya Indian Restaurant at Hotel Holiday Inn, Sukhomvit, Bangkok.

7. SHOPPING 🛍️🛍️

Bangkok trip is incomplete without some serious shopping for clothes, thai souvenirs, cosmetics and electronics.

♥️Pratuman Market –
Wholesale market for clothes but you need to buy three pieces of a particular item to get a wholesale price.
Location :-

♥️Platinum Fashion Mall –
Best place to shop for women clothes and accessories. Four story air conditioned mall with over 1300 shops.
Women Tops and dresses can cost 200 Baht to 400 Baht.
Location :-

♥️Mbk Mall –
Oldest mall of Bangkok where you can buy cloths, mobiles, electronics and a lot more but beware of fake goods.
Location :-

♥️Siam Paragon –
A high end mall with all major luxury brand shops. It has a humongous food court, aquarium and 4D cinema hall worth checking out.
Location :-

♥️Chatuchak Weekend Market –
World’s biggest weekend market with over ten thousand stalls. ( Open Saturday and Sundays)
You can get anything to everything.

8. MASSAGE 💆💆

Bangkok is known for its massage, it’s cheap and offers complete value for money.
Do indulge yourself in a thai, oil or a foot massage.
Cost – 300-400 Baht (one hour)

9. NIGHTLIFE 💃💃

Bangkok can be a lots of fun and it’s known it’s notorious nightlife.
Go Go Bars are extremely popular and dirt cheap.
One can visit Soi Cowboy, Patpong or Nana Entertainment plaza to get the feel.
