Super lightweight, foldable to a small pouch and easy to carry by hand or over the shoulder, you can’t ask for much more from an under-seat bag.
The price, at under £10, is impressive and difficult to beat.
It has a handy side pocket that I like to use for essentials like passports, boarding passes and my phone as it’s easy to access.
I’ve managed to pack everything I need for a weekend away inside the bag before, so the size certainly doesn’t disappoint either.
The only downside is the shoulder strap doesn’t always feel comfortable when the bag is fully loaded as it has no padding, but I can’t really complain when it’s only £5.99.

Flight Knight’s lightweight two-wheel case means passengers don’t have to lug around a heavy backpack or holdall if they only have carry-on luggage.
It has two handy compartments inside, just like a full-sized case would, and pulls along smoothly.
The only downside is the wheels and handles naturally take up vital space that would’ve otherwise been used to carry items, but this only matters if you really need to take some additional belongings.

At first glance, I was taken aback by the beautiful design of the case. The botanical pattern and gold touch of the handle and zip looks classy and stylish.
It doesn’t disappoint inside, either, as the internal fabric is covered in a delicate leafy print.
There are plenty of useful compartments and zippers, probably slightly more than what you would find in a usual case.
The lining feels thick and good quality, as does the outside shell of the case.
It wheels smoothly, but the handle wobbles a little and doesn’t feel very sturdy which could be a problem if the case was packed with quite a bit of weight.

Ryanair-approved, I felt confident heading to the airport knowing I would breeze through checks with this bag.
And for a three-day trip, I had plenty of room for all of my belongings.
In addition to my rather bulky work laptop, I fit a change of trousers, several tops, gym kit and a very full washbag.
The only real negative for me was that the bag was quite heavy to carry around on one shoulder, even though the strap was reasonably padded.

Affordable, lightweight and surprisingly sturdy for the £13 price tag, this backpack is the perfect companion to a weekend away.
It’s 7cm short of Ryanair’s carry-on restrictions so you can be sure you won’t get caught out at the gate.
Despite its size, it still fits an impressive 20L and even has a padded compartment to slide your laptop into.
The exterior is made from PU leather and seems easy to clean, which might come in handy after a particularly hectic trip.
With padded straps, the bag sits comfortably on my shoulders and looks more expensive than it costs.
If you’re not too upset about losing the extra space, this backpack could be a solid carry-on option.

A four-wheel cabin case that’s lightweight and collapsible – you can’t really go wrong with the AirSlim.
It easily folds away and tucks into my limited storage space at home, meaning it doesn’t take up much room when not in use – something I always struggle with when storing my luggage.
When expanded to it’s four-wheel set up, which is easy to figure out, the case glides smoothly and has handy compartments for items and clothing.

The case easily glides around on its four wheels and feels steady, even when going over bumps.
Slate grey on the outside and a dark brown lining inside, the case feels more luxurious than the price.
It also doesn’t feel like it would scratch easily unlike some other hard-shell materials.
Tripp is often reasonably priced for the quality of its luggage and this particular cabin case comes with a five-year guarantee.
As for the sizing, at 45cm x 36cm x 20cm it is well within Ryanair’s restrictions for cabin bags meaning you don’t have to worry about getting caught out.
Though this does mean you’re missing out on some space that could be used to bring an extra outfit.
It’s a strong option for travellers who want to buy a cabin case for a decent price but that will still last a while.

It’s colourful, bright and a small child can easily sit on it and ride through the airport for some fun.
Although we didn’t manage to test out the Trunki ourselves, we hope to in the future.
The playful case actually exceeds Ryanair’s small carry-on limits, but according to the airline’s site, is allowed on.

With a nearly £500 price tag I was intrigued to see what this cabin case had to offer.
The exterior looks modern and polished. Meanwhile, the inside is colourful and practical, with plenty of handy pockets and compartments.
The lining feels strong and good quality.
Having personally never used a case that doesn’t have a zip, I was pleasantly surprised to find it seals securely shut and quite enjoyed using the locking mechanism.
It boasts 360° spinning skateboard-style wheels that even come with a ratchet to help tighten or change them, as Floyd sells a range of different colours separately.
However, the case isn’t completely perfect. I felt the handle was quite stiff to slide up but others might not have the same problem.
Our verdict
Out of all the luggage options I tested, my favourite has to be the Flight Knight 8-wheel carry-on case.
I love being able to easily wheel it through the airport and not have to carry it by hand or on my back, which personally I find uncomfortable when travelling.
You also can’t go wrong with Decathlon’s sports bag, especially for the size and price.
Tripp’s cabin suitcase is also a reliable choice and feels like it is strong enough to survive plenty of trips.
If you’re willing to splash some cash, the Floyd Junior is an undeniably stylish option and feels good quality.
