We are inviting you to travel with us to one of the Bahamas remote but very magnificent place Cat island. If you think that real bahamas look like county with bunch of luxury hotels, restaurants casinos and beaches full of people you might be wrong. All of this you can definitely find on the main island Nassau. Where we are going to start our journey. In reality real Bahamas is archipelagos with 700 island large and small and only 30 of them inhabited . To get to one of them we have to take a local air flight on the small plane and we booked Bahamas Western Air to get to the Cat island. Nassau airport is well designed international and local flights located in one terminal that is really convenient. We have a few hours to wait before we catch our flight to Cat island. Flight delays are very common for local flights, do not be surprised. There is another terminal for US flight only. Majority of the visitors and tourist coming to Bahamas from US and it is very convenient because they can clear American custom and fly anywhere in states.Flight is by itself interesting discovery and very intertaining. It is taking approximately 35 minutes to get to Cat island and finally we are here.
Our cottage we booked online for $160 five month ago is very clean and cozy with two bedrooms living room well equipped kitchen, if you like to cook your food that we do. There is also local restaurants if you like to go out. Owner thoughtful took care about everything there is even bread maker with flour and yeast just in case if we would like to make own bread. Bear in the fridge some food supply like pasta and sauce, all the spices. We have everything for dinner now and we are going to supermarket
The first thing we always do upon checking out the beach. We left in the morning travel the whole day we still have time to enjoy the warm sea water. It is only 500 step to the beach 3 min and we are here.
Beach is exactly like on picture soft sand, warm, crystals clean water. We feel like on private beach all the time. Rarely we can see neighbors or other people. So much staff we can do here, so much fun. Swimming, fishing, cleaning, snorkeling.
We find snorkeling amazingly interesting. Around cat island coral reef are almost everywhere small or big and almost untouched and save from human activities.
It is so great to have fresh catches fish for dinner on grill. We saw this needle fish cleaned by small major coral fish. Needle fish when reach medium size is really delicious and have white soft flesh with small blue bones.
Firs time in my life I catch here just from the beach without even go out to the sea queen trigger fish. It is highly prized fish even among local fishermen for very tasty flesh.
One of the biggest fun we can find on our empty beach is to crack coconut open. It is actually not so easy first of all chose good full of juice coconut. It is really important because to clean coconut shell from the husk pretty hard and we do not want to waste work. Also we lean from local people that really tasty delicious is sprouted coconut.
If we want to buy real island fruits and vegetables. There is one of the island local farm just across the street from our house. Farmer growing lots of tropical fruits.Oranges,mango, herbs, tomatoes and more.
