There are many cats on the island indeed. So We hope you watched the first part an now we are going to give you excursion around the island and we Will show you most interesting places. The administration centre of the island is Arthur’s town. Truly does not look like a capital city at all. There are cemetery, police station. The total population of the island roughly 1500 but changing depends on the season. There is airport near Arthur’s town and it is temporary closed, because it is under construction and construction on Bahamas could take forever. Before there were two operating airports one in Arthur’s town one in New Bight.
The place we are going just simple marina for boat and yacht called Hawk Nest. Something makes this place famous. When tide is changing from low to high lots of shark are usually seen here. Cat Island as all the Bahamian islands has lots of blue halls. It is impossible to find any information about them access or location so we just found them using satellite map images. Sometimes we have to walk from the road in the heat through the Forrest, prickly bushes on foot to discover new beautiful blue hall.
There is always been lots of mystery and unexplained stories around blue hall. Local people believe that there are monsters and sirens live in the halls. They believe that halls can hypnotize people and making them to do strange
When we were searching for blue halls we discovered one small cave filled with fresh water and to our surprise we found here very cute turtles. In the beginning they were running and hiding from us. Actually it is impossible to find any information about this place and other places on the island on internet or fliers. Everything we discovered ourselves. We also discovered this pile of garbage in the middle of beautiful forest. I am pretty sure it is illegal dumping. But garbage it is really big problem on island, local people trying hard to reduce trash, there very little possibility to recycle.Cat island have two main side Caribbean and Atlantic. Caribbean side has the most beautiful sandy beaches, blue clear water no big waves and most population live on the Caribbean side. Atlantic side is different with deep waters close to shore creating big waves. There are no houses, no resorts and very windy. Big waves bring lots of garbage back to the shore. The ocean returning human waste back to humans.
