New York City’s Central Park, which is made up of lakes, gardens, and meadows, spans more than 50 blocks. It was originally envisioned as a space where anyone – no matter what their station in life – could meditate and interact. These days, America’s most famous urban center hosts over 30 million visitors per year.
You’ll find a multitude of things to do if you’re sightseeing in Central Park. Sit down for a picnic on the Great Lawn, or wander through the park’s bridges and pathways, looking for its many sculptures. If you know where to look, you’ll find Hans Christian Andersen and Balto the sled dog. Traveling with a loved one? Why not share a kiss at the Bethesda Fountain and Terrace? Alternatively, you can rent a boat from Loeb Boathouse and attempt to impress your sweetheart with a trip around the lake.
If you’re a fan of Shakespeare’s plays, your Central Park tour must pause at the Shakespeare Garden, which features the flora and fauna mentioned in his works. Beatles fans, don’t forget to pay homage at the Strawberry Fields Memorial, a 2.5-acre section of the park dedicated to the memory of John Lennon.
It’s safe to say that there’s something in Central Park for just about everyone. Whether you’re sending a remote-controlled boat across the Conservatory Waters or admiring the view from Belvedere Castle, you’ll find a number of wonderful ways to spend your day.
