The redbrick cottage from TV’s The Vicar of Dibley is up for sale at for £695,000 after the owner dropped the asking price from £900,000.

TV fans can snap up the period property that was home to Dawn French’s title character Geraldine Granger on the hit sitcom.

The two-bedroom home, named Church Cottage, sits in the village of Turville near Henley-on Thames, Oxfordshire. 

The front of the cottage featured heavily in the hit BBC series as villagers called around to share their problems with TV vicar Geraldine Grainger.

It became a Grade II-listed property in 1986 and has been lived in by the same tenant for over 60 years.

The owners of Church Cottage said: ‘It has been very exciting to own a property that has appeared in such a popular sitcom and its connection with the Vicar of Dibley has often proved an interesting talking point among friends and family.

‘It was lovely to see the house on screen and I hope the new owners will be very happy here.’

The owners of the timeless cottage were originally asking for £900,000, however they have dropped the price to £695,000, a slice of £205k. The sitting room features a classic fireplace and a grey support beam running through the middle of the ceiling

Estate agent Charlie Chavasse, of Savills, said: ‘Accessed from the front via the grounds of St Mary the Virgin Church, the front door opens into the sitting room and enjoys a dual aspect and open fireplace.

‘The kitchen can be found on the other side of the property and has access to a cellar, while to the rear of the sitting room is a lobby and ground floor bathroom.

‘Stairs from the sitting room lead to the first floor, where there are two double bedrooms with views overlooking the village green, church and the hilltop up to Cobstone Windmill.’
