Xinjiang is the birthplace of the world’s best carpets. Xinjiang carpets are known for their long history, skilled production and fame. Xinjiang carpets are renowned the world over and even today their manufacture and export is a source of income for many. Xinjiang carpet is not only renown in China but around the world. it’s smooth, glossy surface, soft blanket board very real beautiful colours brighter, more distinctive national characteristics and strong local colour of the carpet pattern in the international carpet industry is also unique. Hotan carpets are handmade carpets system, mainly in Hotan area. It’s moderate sheep wool fibber with moderate thickness, large elasticity, high tensile strength, a silky sheen, anti broken features, lint-free, soft woven into carpets and durable gloss.
Hotan carpets are now the most valuable products and craft arts on the market, just like cultural relics, similar to a gold blanket and longer time they have (ageing) they become even more valuable. Check out our video to see how they are made.
East Turkestan carpets are carpets made in Xinjiang (East Turkestan) in the northwest China. These carpets are handmade with colours which have Chinese and Turkmenistan patterns.
Carpets were being manufactured in the cities of Kaxgar (Kashgar) , Yarkand and Khotan, but since the western people mostly were in contact with these carpets in the trading city of Samarkand, the older production was and are still known as Samarkand carpets.
The newer production (after 1945) is often named Sinkiang carpets or Xinjiang carpets and consists mainly of simple usage carpets made of handspun yarn and with synthetic colours. In these carpets geometrical pattern and classical Chinese patterns are common.
