Singapore Airlines ensures that flying first class isn’t just a means of transportation – it’s a destination in itself, with footage of a luxury ‘suite’ sending social media users into a frenzy.
A video shared by a passenger shows a sprawling cabin complete with a double bed, private bathroom, flatscreen TV, reclining leather armchair and complimentary teddy bears – leaving travellers both awe-inspired and wallet-weary.
On paper, Singapore Airlines’ first-class ‘Suites’ cabin on its A380 Airbus is the best in the world for an airliner.
In 2023, Singapore Airlines was named the world’s best airline at the Skytrax World Airline Awards – the ‘Oscars of Aviation’ – and took the gong for ‘World’s Best First Class.’
Among its fleet, the Airbus A380 stands as a symbol of extravagance, but to live like royalty means you must spend like royalty – as a ‘Suites’ seat on this airborne palace can cost up to $30,000 per flight.

Uploading a video to Instagram in April, travel blogger Ale Zakarian – known as @ale.zakarian on the social media app – captured some of the finer details of his luxury cabin while returning from a trip to Thailand.
The content creator, who hails from Argentina, captioning his post with: ‘Singapore Airlines First Class, the largest suites in the world! Impressive size of the room!’
As Ale is brought to his ‘Suite’ by an assigned flight attendant, he records the moment he enters his spacious cabin and is greeted by a view of a double bed fitted with white sheets and two pillows.
Placed on the bed are two complimentary teddy bears, while two reclining leather seats sit on either side, along with a narrow desk attached to the wall.
In the private bathroom, pink LED strip lighting sets the ambience, while a Hollywood vanity mirror hangs above the sink and array of toiletries are placed on a shelf.
A leather stool sits underneath a mini-desk in the bathroom, complete with two extra mirrors, offering the passenger a bright and spacious area to apply make-up or skincare as well as haircare.
Meanwhile, a toilet is nestled in its own space to the back of the bathroom, and sits opposite another brightly lit mirror and a shelf that contains decorative plants.
Walking back into the lounge area of the ‘Suite,’ Ale captures an impressively large flat screen TV that hangs above the tail of the bed, as well as the delicious hot food and fruit and cheese platters included in his meal.

Over 10,000 comments poured in from humble travellers who expressed their thoughts over the ‘indulgent’ cabin – with many grappling with the extravagance on display, while others called out the staggering cost of the experience.
One person wrote, ‘It would be so incredible to experience that,’ while another said, ‘I feel exceptionally poor watching it.’
Some social media users poked fun at the sheer size of the cabin, with one person writing, ‘Bigger than some people’s studio flat in London,’ while another Londoner agreed, commenting: ‘Better than my flat in London.’
A third individual joked, ‘Is it also available with a balcony?’ while a fourth person commented, ‘I’ve stayed in hotel rooms smaller than this.’
However, a number of individuals shared their distaste for the extortionate cost of a flight that arrives ‘pretty much at the same time’ as those at a lesser price.

One person wrote, ‘Ryan air gets you there.. all the same sh**,’ while another said, ‘And we all arrive pretty much at the same time… I’d rather feed a whole village in Cambodia than be this indulgent.’
Meanwhile, another unenthused individual complained of the lack of space economy passengers experience, writing: ‘And here we are in economy praying not to get a blood clot in our legs and rich people are stretched out like a star fish.’
In October 2023, Japan Airlines unveiled its new top-tier cabins – with first-class passengers also able to enjoy a double-bed in their ‘exclusive’ suite in the skies.
Japan Airlines (JAL), which was voted the world’s fifth-best airline in 2023’s ‘Oscars of Aviation’, says the A350-1000’s interior has been designed ‘to immerse customers in the elegance of Japanese aesthetics and envelop them in tranquillity, providing a serene ambience that encapsulates the beauty of Japan’.
It says that the new first class and business class cabins are ‘spacious, yet fully-private environments.’
