Galway, Ireland was voted one of Europe’s Capitals of Culture 2020. Once a fishing village, Galway is now a thriving city that boasts wild seas, countless students, and traditional pubs with live music. The city lies exposed to the full fury of the Atlantic, giving it an average 220 days of rain per year and heavy storms. But the ocean and the rugged terrain also provide a bounty of treasures like some of the best seafood Europe has to offer. Through to next February, Galway will be holding a total of 195 events in celebration of being named Capital of Culture 2020.
