Inside the resort in Germany set to rival Center Parcs – with horse riding and mini Land Rovers for kids

Center Parcs is a tried-and-tested favourite among Brits, with its child-friendly nature and host of fun activites on offer appealing to many families across the country.

But there’s a resort in Germany that’s perhaps an even better alternative to Center Parcs.

It’s called Ulrichshof Nature and is located in the heart of the Bavarian Forest.

It’s seen as an upgraded, luxury family resort experience with extensive play areas and wellness for parents.

A key feature of Center Parcs is its swimming pools – and Ulrichshof has them in abundance. There’s a splash park with a pirate-themed slide and many other attractions.

The resort also boasts a wellness area of over 5,500 m² with nine sports and fun pools, as well as a parents’ spa with a natural pool, and childcare daily from 9am to 8pm.

There are also unique novelties in the resort, widening its appeal – including zip lines, climbing activities, sports lessons and even horse-riding.

The Dragon Castle is a climbing paradise, an adventure playground with a giant climbing tree, perfect for children – with a friendly dragon nearby.

Ulrichshof Nature, located in Germany, has many excellent pools on offer

There’s lots to do for kids, too, including many outdoor activities

There’s also an entertainment room, with everything from table tennis and table football to air hockey, an interactive game wall, and two trampolines.

Plus, the resort has a bumper car track and teens-only lounge.

Known as the ‘Fuchs BAU’, it’s a retreat for teens with beanbags, the latest console games on PS5 and X-Box and more.

Little Land Rovers are on hand for children to drive around – a great solution for tiredness, or a big draw in itself.

In terms of dining, there’s plenty on offer.

The resort’s all-inclusive packages provide high-quality buffets, and there’s lots to choose from.

There is a gourmet buffet for at least five courses in the evening in the Wald-Restaurant ‘UNT’.

Fine dining options are available too, with candlelit dinners every Wednesday and Saturday in the Panorama Restaurant ‘OHM’.

Dining opportunities include all-inclusive buffet options and more elevated cuisine

There’s even a fun park for children, with a pirate-themed slide

If you want to try your hand at horse-riding, you can book lessons at Ulrichshof Nature

Coming this year to the resort is a family escape room – for those aged six plus.

A range of rooms and suites are available, too, depending on your personal desires and tastes – from family suites and basic rooms all the way to luxury suites.

Unlike Center Parcs’ lodge accommodation, Ulrichshof offers family suites in a whole range of sizes.

Basic rooms start from €214 (£184) a night, and luxury suites up to €389 (£336).
