Jaw-dropping £22million vessel called the Nautilus is part superyacht, part submarine

A company has unveiled the interiors of a £22million ($27million) superyacht-submarine hybrid inspired by a classic Jules Verne book.

Dutch boatbuilder U-Boat Worx claims the Nautilus is capable of serving as a private yacht and a fully functional submarine.

Described as the ‘ultimate adventure vessel’, the firm says it will be able to dive to a depth of 150 metres (492ft) and cover a range of 3,200 nautical miles.

The company previewed the 37.5-metre-long (123ft) vessel’s exterior late last year, but has now unveiled the interior, created in partnership with design studio Officina Armare.

The quirky design has been influenced by Verne’s 1870 novel ‘Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea’.

It tells the story of Captain Nemo and his submarine, the Nautilus, as they embark on a journey beneath the seas during which the crew see the lost city of Atlantis and journey to the South Pole.

The Nautilus has room for seven crew members and up to 10 guests and features spacious bedrooms, a master cabin with private en-suite and a mezzanine observation lounge that provides panoramic views of the underwater world.

The central space, dubbed the Saloon, is described as the perfect place to relax, entertain, or work.
