Kentucky man who earned viral fame ‘posing as a dead body’ in TikTok posts lands a role as a corpse

A man who spent nearly a year posing as a dead body in a series of hilarious ‘un-alive’ TikTok skits has found a unique outlet for his very special skills – after landing a role as a corpse on the CBS series CSI: Vegas.

Josh Nalley, 42, from Kentucky, has become an expert at playing ‘dead’ after he spent 321 days earning viral fame with his ‘un-alive’ social media videos.

As well as turning him into an internet star, Josh’s videos have also propelled him into the bright spotlight of TV fame, after producers on the crime show spotted his clips and offered him the chance to share his expertise with the world on CSI.

In an interview with USA Today, Josh explained he didn’t even ‘believe’ his ‘un-alive’ skits were finally getting recognition by producers.

Josh Nalley, 42, from Kentucky, has become a natural at acting ‘dead’ after he spent 321 days playing ‘un-alive’ and was finally cast to play a dead man on CSI

He earned a role as a dead man on popular CBS series CSI: Vegas after garnering viral fame on social media for pretending to be a corpse

In his morbid, yet hilarious videos, Josh can be seen lying facedown, in snow, dirt, grass, in a park or even slumping against a wall to sell the part

‘I got an email from CBS that said they’d seen me on TikTok and wanted to offer me the part,’ he explained.

‘At first I didn’t believe it, but they flew me out to California. It turned out that Mario Van Peebles was the director for that episode so besides getting cast in the show, I also got to meet him, which was great.’

Los Angeles producers asked Josh to be apart of CSI after spotting his viral series on TikTok that saw him playing ‘dead’ in various locations.

In his morbid, yet hilarious videos, Josh can be seen lying facedown, in snow, dirt, grass, in a park or even slumping against a wall to sell the part.

In his post from ‘day 121’, Josh is facedown in the woods, while ‘day 321’ sees him leaning against a wall along the Hollywood Walk of Fame before announcing he landed the role as a corpse in the hit TV show.

‘I don’t like speaking on camera, but I can lie there and act like I am dead pretty easily.

‘Having done more than 300 of these posts, I have progressed and gotten better. At first, you could see me breathing, or the fake blood looked really bad.

‘I have gotten rid of using the blood and gotten better at holding my breath.’

And while Josh has gotten used to play ‘dead’, his animals haven’t exactly gotten on board with his acting as his dogs unintentionally join his videos at times, which he has now learned to appreciate.

‘I have figured out that it’s best to have some kind of movement in the videos so it doesn’t look like a still photograph.

The restaurant manager added that he has received multiple offers from other producers of music videos and low-budget movies, but is weighing his options

For his TV debut, Josh spent two hours in hair and makeup and another three hours on a gurney until the crew got the perfect shot, which, according to him, took a few tries

Josh explained that he would continue his job as a manger and continue to produce TikTok videos that see him playing ‘dead’

‘One of my dogs still seems curious about what I am up to. The other one just kind of wanders by and then wanders off.’

When Josh went to California for his acting debut, CBS producers took him to Hollywood Walk of Fame to strike his viral ‘un-alive’ pose.

‘They wanted me to pose next to [CSI legend] Marg Helgenberger’s star and had asked me to bring a towel to lay on because that sidewalk is really dirty, but I forgot,’

‘So rather than laying facedown I kind of turned over on my side and played dead. The thing was the sidewalk was really, really hot,’ he told USA Today.

For his TV debut, Josh spent two hours in hair and makeup and another three hours on a gurney until the crew got the perfect shot, which, according to him, took a few tries.

‘We had to redo one take because I had my phone in my pocket and forgot to turn it off,’ he said. ‘Of course, it was a telemarketer calling. That was kind of embarrassing.’

Although Josh is going to continue his job as a restaurant manager, he doesn’t plan on ending his un-alive campaign anytime soon.

He even revealed he’s received multiple offers to ‘play dead’ in music videos and low-budget movies.

Josh noted he’s taking it easy for now while continuing to produce his viral TikTok videos, which promote his upcoming TV debut on CSI: Vegas, which will air November 3 on CBS.

The TikToker-turned-actor added he was thankful his videos have gotten him so far.

‘I originally got this idea after seeing a woman on TikTok posting about hot sauce and then she got offers from a bunch of hot sauce companies.

‘I thought if I was creative enough playing an un-alive person, I could get the attention of a television show or a movie production company, and how about that, it worked.’
