Using the online database Numbeo, we’ve also pinpointed places you can visit that don’t deserve a toast when it comes to the cost of a beer – the 10 spots with the most expensive pints.

THE LEAST EXPENSIVE PINTS IN EUROPE

The 20 cheapest and most expensive pints of beer for tourists in Europe
For tourists, Debrecen, located in the east of Hungary, offers the cheapest pint in Europe – costing just 92p ($1.12) per 0.5 litres.
Thirsty travellers can catch themselves a cheap and cheerful break to Hungary’s second-largest city, and enjoy a pint for six times less than the eyewatering £6.08 London average.
The spot is fairly easy to reach, with Wizz Air operating return flights from London Luton for less than £100 ($124.18).
But where else can beer lovers venture to without breaking the bank?
One economical spot is Chisinau, the capital of Moldova. It comes second in our top 10 ‘least expensive’ ranking. Amid blocks of Soviet-style architecture lie affordable pubs where beers cost just £1.13 ($1.36) on average.
In third place is Szeged in Hungary. Often referred to as ‘the city of sunshine’, visitors can cool themselves down with a pint for just £1.15 ($1.38).
Szczecin in Poland may not be as popular as other cities in the country, such as Krakow, Wroclaw, or Gdansk, but its cheap beverages may be enough for a diversion for some. Its £1.18 ($1.42) pints put it in fourth place in our ranking.
In fifth place comes Presov in Slovakia, with pints of beer averaging just £1.22 ($1.47).

Rounding out the top 10 in the cheapest ranking is Sibiu (above) in Transylvania, Romania. Visitors to the fang-tastic city will find themselves enveloped in medieval architecture and able to purchase 500ml glasses of beer for £1.41 ($1.69)
The Bulgarian seaside city of Burgas, meanwhile, sells pints for just £1.30 ($1.56), earning it a six-place berth.
Targu Mures in Romania occupies seventh place thanks to points of beer costing £1.32 ($1.59) on average.
Coming joint eighth are two spots in Bosnia and Herzegovina – Mostar and Banja Luka, where pints of beer can be snared for the cheap as chips price of £1.33 ($1.60).
Rounding out the top 10 is Sibiu in Transylvania, Romania. Visitors to the fang-tastic city will find themselves enveloped in medieval architecture and able to purchase 500ml glasses of beer for £1.41 ($1.69).

According to Numbeo, an average pint in Reykjavík will set customers back £8.21 ($9.87)
Those wanting to find a cheap pint may want to avoid Reykjavik. It tops our top 10 chart of the most expensive places in Europe to buy a pint. The average price for a beer there is £8.21 ($9.87) – yet the city still has a buzzing nightlife.
Bergen in Norway receives the unwanted honour as the home of Europe’s second-most-expensive pint. In the picturesque city, surrounded by mountains and fjords, a pint costs an average of £8.09 ($9.72).
The rest of the top 10 comprises Stavanger, Norway (third, £7.75/$9.32); Espoo, Finland (fourth, £7.65/$9.20); Trondheim, Norway (fifth, £7.38,$8.87); Oslo, Norway (sixth, £7.35/$8.83); Geneva in Switzerland, Lausanne in Switzerland, and Zurich in Switzerland (all joint seventh, £7.24/$8.70); and Basel, Switzerland (eighth, £7.23/$8.69).
BEER PRICES IN OTHER POPULAR EUROPEAN SPOTS, FROM SEVILLE TO PARIS – AND THE UK
Those jetting off to sunny Spain won’t have to worry about breaking the bank to enjoy a few beers – cities including Valencia, Seville, and Zaragoza charge just £2.18 ($2.62) per pint on average, while Santa Cruz de Tenerife, located on the island of Tenerife, in Spain’s Canary Islands, charges just £1.62 ($1.95) per pint.
While Prague has been positioned as the Czech Republic’s beer capital, the cheapest pint can actually be found outside the capital city in the historical city of Olomouc.
Although Lonely Planet described it as ‘practically unknown outside the Czech Republic’ – it has thousands of microbreweries and pubs, with a low cost of just £1.43 ($1.72) per pint.
Bitola, in landlocked North Macedonia, also offers a cheap pint – just £1.42 ($1.71).
The popular French destinations of Paris and Bordeaux charge an average of £6.12 ($7.36), while those searching for the cheapest pint in a UK city will have to head to Coventry in the West Midlands – there beer costs just £3.53 ($4.24) on average. Close behind in the low-cost stakes is Newcastle upon Tyne, where a pint costs a very reasonable £3.73 ($4.48).
Germany’s beer capital, Munich, sits around the middle of the overall Numbeo list. There, it’s £4.19 ($5.04) on average for a pint. While the capital city, Berlin, known as the clubbing and cultural epicentre of Germany, charges slightly more – £5.05 ($6.07) on average.
