Ship MSC Preziosa has anchored in at the Cornish town of Falmouth to end trip
A massive cruise ship cast its giant shadow as it towered over the Cornish town of Falmouth on the final stop of its 11-day trip.
The 1092ft (333m) MSC Preziosa arrived in the dark, dropping its anchor just off Pendennis Point in Falmouth at dawn.
The picturesque seaside town has a population of 24,071 according to the latest census.
Bringing around 3,500 passengers to the town, people could be seen disembarking the Fantasia-class liner almost immediately, leaving the 14 decks to be ferried into Falmouth harbour.
With so many eager to get off the ship at the same time for a jam-packed day of excursions, the St Mawes Ferry could be seen helping with transferring passengers to shore.

It also has an onboard theatre which can accommodate 1,600 guests, as well as seven restaurants and a Smurf-themed play area.
MSC Preziosa was only in Falmouth for the day (Oct 3). Its stop in Falmouth is the final one of an 11-day cruise around Western Europe.
It follows in the wake of other huge liners, as well as billionaires’ superyachts, that have visited the town over the summer.

Built in 2008 by the Lurssen shipyard in Germany, Rocinante was formerly known as Madsummer, before being bought by billionaire Valve CEO Gabe Newell.
The man behind the development of the company’s first game ‘Half-Life’ in 1998, Newell is the president of gaming company Valve, which created the Steam platform for buying computer games.
He was reported to have a net worth of $3.9billion in 2021.

And angry locals in another tiny Cornish town blasted the arrival of a massive cruise ship that increased the local population by 50 per cent during its visit in early September.
The 58,000-ton Spirit of Adventure stopped in Fowey on Friday, September 1. While some admired its size, others weren’t happy about the 775ft ship docking at Fowey Harbour.
Residents said on social media that the ship’s visit was ‘awful’ and ‘shouldn’t be allowed’. Some also highlighted how the fumes being pumped into the air by the Spirit of Adventure had affected air quality in the coastal town.
