Motorcycle Trip During Pandemic – What You Have to Know?

5 Tips to travel with a motorcycle during Pandemic

Tip number 1 – Make flexible plans
This is advice always worked to me but now in the current world pandemic situation, it helped me so much. To be able to change your routes, completely remove or add new points is something that you have to able to do at any given moment.

Tip number two – Do only what you feel right
At the moment, no one really knows what to do. All the information that you can find on the internet means nothing when you finally reach the border. I read about Moldova that it was forbidden for Bulgarians, but they let me cross it transit.
I also read about Ukraine that there are no restrictions for Bulgarians but because I have crossed Moldova before that they gave me only 48 hours to cross it transit.
The next was Belarus. I read that Bulgarian citizens can travel without any restrictions in Belarus, and I also have a visa, which I have made a week before that, they should know if there are any restrictions, right? Yes, but no! On the border, they checked my temperature, it was normal, by the way, they do it on every border now, and they said that I have to stay two weeks under quarantine. Of course, I was not happy with this and I told them that I have Visa and I live in Germany and I need to go there so they checked once again and just let me go.

Tip number 3 – Choose just one country if possible
What I mean with this is that if you choose just one country and you are able to go in you don’t need to worry until the trip is over. Okay, they might change the regulations in the country, like a few months ago, but more likely it is not going to happen again.

Tip number 4 – Don’t book anything in advance
I never do it even in normal travel situations, because with a motorcycle you never know when you will actually be there but now, in the current situation is even impossible to guess that.
For example, many of the hotels were closed or works with limited capacity, the same with the restaurants, and many more. You can book a nice 4 stars hotel, with SPA and great restaurant and later realized that the spa doesn’t work and the restaurant serves only 5 tables outside, from 6 to 8 p.m
It is the same with many of the attractions. Some are completely closed and some work with a limited number of visitors. A few times in Bulgaria I spent have many hours just to see something and when I finally got there it was closed because of the pandemic. In Romania, I needed to wait more than 1 and a half hours to visit Dracula Castle and when I finally did it we were guided on small groups max 5 people inside, of course with masks. So it was not a really great experience to have.

Tip number 5 – Plan more time
This is so important that I should have started with it. Because of everything that I just told you in many places you have to reroute your plans, and when you do it the time schedule will change. You might have some benefits, like low traffic but not always not everywhere.
In fact, in some places was exactly the opposite, borders for example. As I told you they need to check the temperature to everyone, then the documents, reasons to travel, and all of these slow down the whole line. It was the same on the ferries.
