It will be the second Super Nintendo World to open globally – the first, set in Universal Studios in Osaka, Japan, launched in early 2021.

At the entrance, Super Nintendo World Hollywood visitors will pass through the iconic green ‘warp pipe’ from the Super Mario games.

This will lead them into the fairytale interior of Peach’s Castle. Once through the castle doors, they can set off and explore the ‘Mushroom Kingdom’ that makes up the park.

Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge will likely be a highlight for fans of the video game series. The ‘all-new, technologically-advanced ride’ promises to fuse ‘cutting-edge augmented reality with projection mapping technology and actual set pieces along a moving ride track’.

Riders will join Team Mario and ‘steer through underwater courses, and courses in the clouds, to compete for the Golden Cup while collecting coins to defeat Team Bowser and win’, a statement reveals.

The ride lies within Bowser’s Castle, a fortress that’s embellished with a ‘breathtaking’ sculpture of a ‘large and powerful’ Bowser.

As visitors move through the ‘winding’ corridors of the castle, they pass by displays of medallions and trophies and learn about Bowser’s plans to defeat Mario and claim the Golden Cup.

Another attraction is Mount Beanpole, a ‘towering landmark’ at the centre of the park that serves as the entrance for the ‘Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge’ ride.

When hunger strikes visitors can make their way to the Toadstool Cafe, the park’s signature restaurant, where they’ll be served ‘a gourmet menu perfected by Chef Toad’, who ‘greets guests upon entry’.

Super Mario-themed dishes on offer include ‘Toadstool Cheesy Garlic Knots’, ‘Super Mushroom Soup’, ‘Mario Bacon Cheeseburger’, ‘Luigi Pesto Chicken Burger’, ‘Piranha Plant Caprese’ salad and a ‘Princess Peach Cupcake’.

More ‘energetic, familiar and fun’ interactive features will be dotted throughout the park, including sets of ‘augmented reality binoculars’ to peer through.

In different interactive challenges, video game fans will be tasked with collecting keys from Goomba, Koopa Troopa, Piranha Plant and Thwomp, before battling against Bowser Jr.
