A Spirit Airlines passenger was left infuriated when she tried to sit in the front row – an experience she paid extra for – only to find someone else in her place.
‘Today, I get on the plane last… someone is occupying my seat 1A, so I show the flight attendant [my boarding pass,’ an Instagram user wrote on Threads on Tuesday.
She said it was obvious that the girl who stole her seat was with her friend, who had booked seat adjoining seat, but the seat stealer ‘claims she doesn’t know where her boarding pass or seat is.’
At that point, the traveler said a flight attendant offered to look up the woman’s seat – when suddenly she seems to remember where she is supposed to sit.
‘She says, “Oh, I’m in 18B, she can take my seat!” the Instagram user wrote, clearly appalled by the woman’s suggestion.

‘Ma’am audacity is on clearance, but you need to go to your seat, I’ll be taking my seat! Like blame your [girlfriend] for not booking you with her ’cause I know I can’t look that nice or dumb.’
Many others who commented on the post agreed with her decision – as they hit out at the stranger for trying to switch a Business Class seat for an Economy seat.
‘I’m with you,’ @travasatx wrote.
‘Maybe if they went about it in a respectful manner, but if they choose to be disrespectful than yeah, bet your ass imma have you move you[r] entitled ass right back to your seat.’
Another Instagram user wrote that it was ‘convenient that she “lost’ her boarding pass from the moment she scanned it at the gate to the moment she got comfy in the front row.
‘And to think you would be OK or gullible enough with going from Business Class to Economy when you clearly paid the cost of your seat?? The audacity of people nowadays just baffles me.’
She said a woman was sitting in the seat she booked – and had the audacity to offer her a seat in Economy instead
A third Instagram user, meanwhile, suggested that the two friends ‘should have taken [a] seat in row 18 and just switch with the person in the original row 18 seat so they could sit together.
‘I guarantee (as long as that person was alone) they would have swapped for row 1,’ she wrote.
But @jd_hh said it should have been up to the flight attendants to keep the peace.
‘Since it’s a matter of flight security, it is not allowed that you sit in 18B,’ he wrote. ‘The flight attendant MUST keep order and remove the person on 1A for you.
‘Just stay firm and keep your ground,’ he suggested.
It appears that the frustrated traveler heeded his advice, as she posted a photo from the front row just a few minutes after her first post.
‘Y’all don’t fly Spirit Airlines… well I do… big front seat me!’ she wrote.
‘Oh and they’re including Wi-Fi, adult beverages and bags later this month for a real first class experience.
‘Very classy, very demure,’ she called the experience.
Spirit Airlines is offering four tiers of tickets through August 27
The budget airline announced late last month that it would offer packages for its highest-price tickets in an effort to increase revenue.
The ‘Go Big’ tickets that it appears the traveler bought include a spot in one of the airline’s Big Front Seats, and comes with free Wi-Fi, a checked bag, one carry on and ‘unlimited’ snacks and drinks, according to CNBC.
The next level down is the ‘Go Comfy’ tickets, which offer travelers a seat with standard legroom but a blocked middle seat for extra space.
It also includes an earlier boarding time, one snack, one nonalcoholic drink, checked baggage and a carry-on, while the ‘Go Savvy’ tickets come with either a checked bag or carry-on.
The standard ‘Go’ tickets provide just a seat – with fees for checked bags, carry-on luggage, seat selection, Wi-Fi and snacks.
The four tier tickets are available on Spirit Airline flights through August 27.
