A swanky new restaurant has been branded sexist after revealing their dress code which asks women to wear ‘sexy black ankle-strap heels with a form-fitting top’ or ‘bodycon dresses’.
Beluga Bar, in Leatherhead, Surrey, opened earlier this week and serves locals pricey Japanese fare including £45 Caviar and £17 Octopus Maki.
But the restaurant and bar has been branded ‘out of touch’ after sharing its dress code which asks men to wear jackets and women to wear tight clothing.
‘WTF have you read how sexist and how out of touch your T&Cs are for 2022!’ one angry local wrote on social media.
‘You’re a restaurant on Leatherhead High street not some private members club in Mayfair (which will even allow a flat shoes and skinny jeans combo!)’

To gain entry to our venue, you need to be on the guest list.
Beluga staff & security will not allow you entry if you simply turn up.
Our guest list is strictly by invite only.
One of our team will get in touch with you to confirm you’re on the guest list and advise all details for the night.
Dress code is smart casuals with jackets for men, no tracksuits, no t-shirt and women can wear skinny jeans with sexy black ankle-strap heels and with a form-fitting top.
Alternatively, there are many different types of dresses that would look good at a bar in the summer or winter, namely a midi or bodycon dresses
Anyone is welcome into the resto bar, but you won’t be allowed entry if you wear hoodies, trainers, shorts, flip flops or any other sportswear.
Don’t arrive at the venue drunk. You will be turned away.
Be polite to the door staff – any aggression or rudeness will not work in your favour!
At the door, make sure to tell the staff you are on the guest list and give the names. All guests MUST bring IDs.
If even one guest in a group doesn’t have ID, they WILL be turned away.
Entry to the bar and restaurant is by invitation only.
Management reserves the right to refuse entry even if you have a booking.
While we are selective in who we invite on our guest list, being on the guest list is not a guarantee that you will get into the venue. All venues reserve the right of admission.
The bar and restaurant, which claims to be entry ‘strictly by invite only’, also has a no hoodies, trainers, shorts or flip flops rule.
But the policy has caused rage among locals who deem the tight clothes for women rules ‘sexist’.
Taking to Instagram, one wrote: ‘Not sure we will be able to come with the dress code for women ?!! Don’t own any sexy black ankle strap shoes’
Another added: ‘Your dress code and laughable terms and conditions mean that you have lost my custom before you’ve even opened.’
A third commented: ‘You’ve unfortunately alienated a large chunk of your market by your antiquated & misogynistic “rules”.
While a fourth penned: ‘Woman have to dress sexy as mentioned in the T&C’s. Not sure how they are even allowed to post such sexist entry requirements!’
A fifth replied: ‘I can’t believe the t&c… so sexist in this day and age’.

FEMAIL has contacted Beluga Bar for comment.
Beluga bar describes itself online as ‘housed in the heart of the city centre in the affluent, leafy suburb of Leatherhead’ despite Leatherhead being a town with a population of less than 12,000.
