Stone bridges, traditional brick houses and tranquil countryside views – it’s almost hard to believe this small village is only 30 minutes from London.
Located in Kent, Eynsford is nestled in the Darent Valley, which is classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The charming village is surrounded by rolling hills and boasts plenty of historic buildings to admire.
Those wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of London for the day can easily hop on a train, change at Swanley, and be in Eynsford in just 33 minutes.
Alternatively, it’s reachable by car in around one hour and 25 minutes.
Travel content creator, Samuel, who goes by @lostinsamuel on Instagram, described it as ‘one of the prettiest corners of the English countryside’.
Samuel penned on a recent post how he discovered a ‘storybook-village feeling at every turn’ during his visit.
Eynsford has plenty of history to explore and is home to Lullingstone Roman Villa – one of the best-preserved of its kind in Britain.

It was built in AD 100 and was continuously developed over the years by its wealthy owners and is now looked after by English Heritage.
There are remains still standing today, treating visitors to a glimpse of what Roman life was like and a chance to see impressive mosaics and paintings.
The Roman villa is located next to Lullingstone Castle and World Garden – one of the oldest family estates in England.
Eynsford also boasts a Norman castle which still has parts of its wall and hall building.
Or, if hiking picturesque trails is more appealing – there are several routes along the riverside and through woodlands.
According to the Eynsford Parish Council website, the village is ‘an extremely popular destination for walking and orienteering clubs’.
‘A walk through Eynsford village, is like stepping back in time as it is home to many Listed buildings of significant and conservational importance and traditional country pubs,’ the site reads.
After all the exploring, hearty food and drink can be found at several independent pubs in the village.

The Plough Inn is highly rated on Google, boasting more than 3,000 reviews and an average score of 4.3 out of 5.
Or there is The Malt Shovel, averaging 4.3 based on hundreds of reviews.
Another charming village, but this time by the coast, is Robin Hood’s Bay in North Yorkshire.
It has often been dubbed one of the most beautiful locations in the country and even came fourth in the top ten prettiest UK villages in 2021.
The old fishing village enchants with chocolate box streets, cosy inns and tea rooms.
The beach offers rock pools and coves, while nearby trails like the Cleveland Way are the perfect way to explore its countryside.
Highly rated online, the beach scores an impressive 4.6 stars on Tripadvisor.
One rave review reads: ‘A lovely place to visit if you’re ever in the area. It’s beautiful and on a gorgeous day like what we had it was stunning. You can quite easily walk on the beach but be aware of the tide times.
‘Lovely little rock pools, I can imagine that families with children would enjoy spending a lot of time here.’
