Barbados boasts miles of pink and white beaches, has plenty of restaurants serving delicious Caribbean cuisine and is kitted out for ultimate relaxation.
Its tropical charm attracts hordes of visitors each year who bask on its sandy shores and enjoy luxurious hotels and villas.
However, the small island is only around 166 square miles in size and can easily feel overcrowded with its annual intake of 1.2million tourists.
There’s another stunning destination around 150 miles away that is a less busy but equally as beautiful spot to visit.
Known as Spice Island, Grenada is a hidden gem that attracts just 350,000 travellers a year.
The Caribbean island gets its unique nickname from being a huge producer of spices.
It’s the second-largest producer of nutmeg in the world, and makes huge amounts of ginger, cinnamon and mace.

Aside from vast beaches, the island also has mountain lakes and rainforests to explore.
Grenada has undergone impressive conservation efforts for its reefs and features three Marine Protected Areas.
Visitors hoping to enjoy the beaches on the island can do and with 70% less crowds compared to Barbados.
Getting to the island is relatively simple, making it an accessible destination for most.
Those jetting off from the UK have the option to connect from nearby islands, while American travellers can get a direct flight through some airlines.
UK, Australian and American citizens can also enter visa-free.
Accommodation works out to be more affordable too, and is reportedly 30% cheaper than similar options in the tropical hotspot.
According to Journée Mondiale, a trip to Grenada for a week comes to $200-400 (£147.50-295) less when compared to Barbados.

There’s plenty to do and explore on the island, including impressive waterfalls.
What’s more, the country celebrates ‘Spicemas’ every August with a carnival and lots of partying.
Dry season in the area is from October to June while wet season, and hurricane season, is across June to November.
Lonely Planet recommends visitors stay in Grenada for at least a week to fully enjoy their time.
